palin comparison (get it? huh? :D)

Ladies and gentlemen, if you haven't already met her, I'd like to introduce you to Michele Bachmann, a Republican Congresswoman from Minnesota who did two things in the past couple of days: 1) announced she was entering the 2012 presidential race, and 2) officially became the "new Sarah Palin" by making an incredibly uninformed (not to mention hilarious) statement in the press.
In an interview with Fox News, Bachmann spoke of her hometown of Waterloo, Iowa, from where she had announced her candidacy. At one point, she said, "Well what I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That's the kind of spirit that I have, too."
The problem? John Wayne the actor is actually from another Iowa town, named Winterset. The John Wayne that did hail from Waterloo? That'd be John Wayne Gacy, a serial killer who in the 1970s murdered over 30 men and buried most of them in the crawl space underneath his house.
Oops.
How can you make a mistake like that-- like THAT-- about your own hometown? That'd be like me talking about my hometown of Wakefield, MA and claiming that instead of it being the place where Michael McDermott shot seven of his co-workers, it was the place where Michael McDonald shot seven of his music videos.
Actually, that sounds a lot better. I'm gonna tell people that from now on.

Ohhh, looks like you're referring to this (from Wikipedia):
In April 2005, Bachmann was photographed crouching behind some bushes observing a gay rights rally at the state capitol and left when spotted. She said she wasn't hiding behind the bushes, but was resting feet sore from high heels. The following week, at a constituent forum in Scandia, Minnesota, when asked about gay marriage during a question and answer session, Bachmann left the meeting twenty minutes early. When two women asked Bachmann questions in the women's restroom, Bachmann screamed "Help! I'm being held against my will!" and fled in tears. She filed a police report but no charges were filed, with the county attorney concluding that the women "simply wanted to discuss certain issues further" with Bachmann.
She also said the following:
"Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn't even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas.''
''If we took away the minimum wage — if conceivably it was gone — we could potentially virtually wipe out unemployment completely because we would be able to offer jobs at whatever level.''
“But we also know that the very founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States.”
''Normalization (of gayness) through desensitization. Very effective way to do this with a bunch of second graders, is take a picture of 'The Lion King' for instance, and a teacher might say, 'Do you know that the music for this movie was written by a gay man?' The message is: I'm better at what I do, because I'm gay."
''And what a bizarre time we're in, when a judge will say to little children that you can't say the pledge of allegiance, but you must learn that homosexuality is normal and you should try it."
So yeah, she's a very stable, knowledgeable, rational woman . . . who is working tirelessly to send the country back to the stone age (before gays, when carbon dioxide and the founding fathers abolished slavery).
Those other quotes are pretty amazing. When I compared Bachmann to Sarah Palin I meant it as an insult to Bachmann, but I'm beginning to think that it's actually more of an insult to Palin.
But really, as long as I'm insulting them both at least a little bit, I'm pretty happy lol.
