6/28/11 Weekend of CPFM

This weekend was spectacular! Merk and Dales CPFM *Central Plains Furmeet* went off without a hitch. 30+ showed up and everyone seemed to really have fun, even the anti-social furs were being social. The temperature was obscene but plenty of water sun screen and of course beer were on hand to battle the heat.
When the sun went down the first night we sat around a lantern talking it up , and exchanging scar stories. I think Hobbleswolf won however with his lion...or was it tiger fighting scars? I can't remember. Oki knows the story. Then after a bit o' the Kraken, we went up to a really nice hill overlooking the lake for a midnight howl. Where we ran into 3 mundanes. One was wearing a hat that in pitch black really did look like some wierd ass hair style. Oki summarized the furry condition for them, and did quite well in his inebriated state. They even agree'd to join the howl. Some of us took stance and some stood, the howling commenced and was great fun. We were prevented from doing it the next night however by request of the park ranger hehe. Apparently they had a 10pm curfew. OOPS!
On Saturday alot went swimming *we hadn't all brought suits so we had to stay dry*, we opted instead to go drive around the area and find the shooting range. Later we got back to camp and it seemed to have decent amount of interest so we all went out there. Was alotta fun , we had brought our AR-15, FN-PBR-XP .308 Sniper Rifle, the Beretta PX4 Storm , Walther SP22, the Howa .308 and a .22 Colt Marksman. Also a couple other furs brought there guns and I was able to shoot the Beretta PX4 compact which I had always wanted to try out. I think everyone got turns on everything they wanted to shoot.
That night, the feast was prepared and layed out. It was a huge spread that actually generated left-overs. There were even 3 grills going at one point. All the noms were delicious! There was chicken, brisket, hotdogs , grilled corn, ohhhh just so much grilled goodness.
That night was a bit cooler and a few were thinking of fursuiting. However firstly Keegans car had to be broken into. He locked his keys in the car and the thing had electric locks! It was a genuine logic puzzle. Using the keypad he could open the trunk but it was refusing to pop open his doorlocks. After trying exaustively to get the handle of the door to pop open using a combination of 1 spotter with a flashlight, 1 door pryer with screw driver, and 1 hanger handler to actually get the handle, we had Hobbleswolf try and go in through the hatch in the trunk only to find out that the seats don't fold down unless the release switch is hit inside the backseat. So we ended up, prying open the back door slightly, while pushing the coat hanger through, hitting the lever in the backseat, so that Hobbleswolf could make it through the trunk *which opened from the keypad* and push down the seat while the lever was being depressed, and voila the car was ferreted into! No car is safe from these furry critters haha! Anywho, we have pictures I'll be uploading soon as I get them off our camera of hobbleswolf wiggling through the backseat to open up the car.
But after all that , Keegan put on Rusty the Fox, Patdog put on Scout the Husky, Hobbeswolf borrowed Cascade and Drago put on Speedrave. Doing a Mini Parade around the grounds, we ended up at Oki Doki's tent. As we were hanging out some mundanes drove up in a golf cart with a couple kids. Everyone walked over, and Rusty jumped aboard hoping to get adopted, the kids were all for it, but i think the adults were a bit worried about caring for a 6 foot fox. The parents really did love it, hobbles in Cascade and Keegan in Rusty took a bunch of pics with the kids, and then they were off. Hopefully next year it'll be a bit cooler so that more suiting can be done.
The weekend seemed to come to an end too soon. We were considering doing pride in Wichita but it was supposed to be 115, and decided to skip it. We had a warm farewell from everyone with hugs n scritches abound.
We can't wait till next year to do it all again.
*Huggles*Merkindesr and DaleFox for the great furmeet!

you guys should bring more guns next time, I might even bring some extra bang for 7 bucks. :P
I was surprisingly social, must have do to it next year, especially for the noms, best food I'd had all year (including Christmas)
My camera has stopped working, the photos I got were instantly deleted when it turned off D: I gots not pictures of any shenanigans, I hope your fellas go some better pics.
All of those sound awesome, but...I thought Dirty harry had a .45 Magnum...punk.
till next time then :P
Oh and technically the gun he used was a Smith & Wesson Model 29 .44 Magnum with an 8 3/8" Barrel. And ours is a Smith & Wesson Model 27 .357 Magnum with an 8 3/8". Its the same exact gun except chambered in a lower cartridge.
All I got out of that was, "I'm a Okla-fur, and I love my guns, yeehaw!" :P
