I get more excited to check out a watchers page when their gallery consists of a) more than just canines/felines and/or b) no canines/felines at all. Not that I hate either species, it just feels stale after a while seeing someone ONLY draw the same animals w/ little variety.

Of course, if youve been on DA, who hasnt heard THIS before. :I

I don't mind canines and felines, though I do think some people pigeonhole themselves into drawing only one thing and it can get a bit... bland. There's so many other animals out there to draw, you know? :<

I guess I'm a bit hypocritical since I draw a lot of HYENAS AND ELVES AND GIANT DRUNKEN CATS, but seriously. Lizards and birds and bugs and fish and even mammals from other families. Fossas and cacomistles and SHEEP. Oh my god, mountain sheep. ;u;

I was actually in the makings of making my own Fossa design thanks to doing a freebie on livestream. They're adorable feline-like weasle beasties that make me happy inside. xD

I sort of get that too. Or at the very least, I like it when I check someone's page and see that their fursona is nicely-designed. I know that's subjective, but SERIOUSLY, I HAVE SEEN TOO MANY FURSONAS THAT LOOKED LIKE THEIR COLORS WERE MS PAINT DEFAULT COLORS.

Anyway, it is pretty cool when people have unorthodox fursonas.

However, what I don't understand (AND THIS ISN'T YOU, DON'T WORRY) is discriminating against them if they do have a canine/feline fursona or happen to like to draw those a lot. No, it's not a good thing to get compeltely stuck on drawing one thing, but...after drawing all those Adrimas pictures, can I really talk about that kind of thing? :D; Seriously, unless they're experimenting for the purpose of getting better, everyone should draw what they like, the end. Doesn't mean anyone else has to like that subject matter or that drawing dogs CONSTANTLY is particularly creative, but...

Also, there is a reason people like canines/felines the most. That's because they are the most popular pets, and even if other things look cool, they don't make as good pets. And people are pretty likely to like what they see most. XD (Coincidentally, I just realized this yesterday, and then you posted this journal. RAIKOOOU~)

Like, I agree but at the same time I wish people would branch out because it's really cool to see new things, you know? Oh, I agree. I just also understand why people like canines/felines (that doesn't excuse everyone from having identical wolf fursonas, though).

And I will probably never draw much in the way of SCORPION COW MONSTER, but I guess that's...just how I am? MAYBE THAT MAKES ME UNCREATIVE, I DON'T KNOW. That said, I agree that a lot of animals are quite radtastic.

I was also apt to stick robotic parts on damn near everything, though I guess I kind of reawakened that with Bashinga to an extent. Still not the acid-breathing cyborg African Wild Dog who worshiped a phoenix that I had for no rhyme or reason.

... I also used to give everything extra parts, or too few. Like, Mij has an extra everything, you know? Though I guess I still do that. I mean, lookit Jari and Rasasha and their number of eyes.

I have no room to judge. My characters are mostly gray, one is a dog in headphones, and the other is a hyena who no longer looks like a hyena, hahaha.

I've tried doing different species. But Graymalkin is just.. A lazy Manx XD I try to do different species.. Though of my four favorite characters, one is a Panda, another is a Mouse, and then I have Oktober the cat and Blot the Dog XD

Every time I see a species I like, I used to try to make a character out of them. I recently stopped due to having way too many characters. ;-;
