Minecraft: What's allowed on FA
14 years ago
"It's a journal from Summercat! And he writes:"
Heyas guys
If you've uploaded a minecraft screenshot within the last month or so (or maybe more), you likely got a ntoe from me about the removal of 'em from your gallery.
Clearing up the minecraft screenshots has been on my to-do list for a few months, and I"m getting around to it now.
So I figured I should list things that are allowed from Minecraft:
Screenshots showing off custom textures *you* have made or helped work on;
Outputs showing custom avatar textures made *by* you or *specifically for* you.
THat's it. Pixel art, design work, any and all other screenshots are not allowed. As per the rule:
Screenshots - Screenshots are not permitted. This includes websites, desktops, applications, games (console, PC) or film.
Exception: Interface designers may upload screenshots of websites or interfaces they have made so long as they are complete, original designs, use their own work (no copyright material) AND the screenshot does not include portions of the computer or browser interface.
*THERE IS AN EXCEPTION*
Comics
Comic image submissions may contain generated art (screenshots, sprites) provided they contain story-driven elements and are presented in a comic-strip- or comic-book-like multi-panel format (otherwise distinguishing them apart from regular screenshots).
Please note this actually applies to all screenshots - even SL. I'm just working on Minecraft right now.
\\\
EDIT:
After posting this I realized I should let it be known that I'm not going to be passing out any suspensions for this - I'm just removing the images. Even though I *should* assume that everyone knows the rules (you did agree to read and follow 'em, after all), I'll instead be assuming that you have uploaded these images in good faith.
TLDR: You're not gonna get in trouble.

of my character, which uses a skin that I designed myself for my own use
The long and the short of it is that I got burned out answering a few thousand of 'em in a month and a half. I'm working my way back up to dealing with 'em on a regular basis.
I'm considering some options for me personally to address some of 'em, but they're just ideas at this point.
TLDR: The TT system has a scary backlog and I'm not quite ready to take it on yet :|
I mean, yeah <.<;
thanks for the effort! :3
Good~!
Although I'm not going to do that. I don't have the patience for texture packs. :V
(I may upload my skin, which I keep forgetting to do..)
Or a journal. Staffers would prefer a journal :3
I'm not trying to break the rules here... If id have spotted some journal or mention a month ago then Id have removed them at the time along with saving them elsewhere... Honestly minecraft screenshots are not that big of a loss for me, the thing that I'm really getting at is that it seems like the administration here is a little bit unorganized, or maybe they are organized they just make a habit of not giving people enough time or warning to remove the offending submission.
Further, it's been stated several times that Furaffinity is not an archival website - we offer no garuntees of file hosting.
Again, for the most part I understand, but the fact still remains that you axed actual work of mine.
LOOKIT MY ADORABLE MINECRAFT SKIN AND TELL ME IF EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT KAY?
:D <333
Last I remember, we were discussing how to make it so that works that show 'significant effort by the user' were allowed, to show off things like statuary and megaconstructions, without also allowing items such as random scenery screenshots, or "Lol this happened" screenshots.
The AUP cannot both be an easily readable guideline /and/ a comprehensive ruleset. Especially on a lot of things that require judgement calls. Despite some people demanding them, hard and fast rules cannot be made - and are inflexible in gray area situations.
However, I'm no longer an admin, and the information in this journal is also very very old and outdated.
Why in god's name do you think I know the answer to that question? How is that even relevant to the journal?
