If you haven't already, I would advise you to download a copy of Microsoft Security Essentials and a copy of CCleaner. Both of these are free programs. Reboot into safe mode and install both. Then run MSE and let it delete and clean whatever it wants. As soon as it finishes run CCleaner and let it fix both junk files and registry errors. MSE should then be capable of stopping further infection once you reboot into normal Windows. Ditch Symantec because it's detection rate is not as good especially considering the insane amount of resources it uses.
