Try listening to different animal sounds from a reliable wildlife source. Maybe something did try to attack a dog, but badgers, foxes, wolverines, and even mountain lions make some extremely disturbing noises. XD Especially foxes. I thought a woman was screaming in our back yard. Turned out to be a disgruntled vixen.

If it's foxes having sex, you're legally allowed to throw shoes at them out the window until they stfu. Also applies to cats.
