9 random minutes of Thundercats

Overall, I'm not terribly impressed. Animation is bland (I am so sick to death of generic anime faces) and the dialog sounds like it was written by the Cliche-o-Matic 3000. I'm a bit sad they dropped the Third Earth angle from the original - being explorers on a surreal new planet and the last of their species would have been something fun to explore in a darker & grittier new version; this looks like furry Lord of the Rings instead.
Ah well. I'll still give it a chance since A. pilots usually suck and B. I'm often slow to warm to new things in general and C. nostalgia blinders.

Thundercats, He's supposed to be manlier.
So Liono is younger/teenager.
I admit from what I seen so far at least *some* of the anthro-felines have tails/muzzles and more cat-like features.

PS
Yea they pretty much mucked up Voltron. I love the new look and all but the animation felt like a cheap version of Zoids. Even the mecha animation looked choppy.
It doesn't look all bad to men, well, aside from the fact it looks like generic anime, but
that's just me.
As for Voltron, I wasn't really happy with the looks at all.
It looked like every other trashy looking remake Nickelodeon does.
Again my own opinion.
ONLY thing I do like about Voltron is well, I admit I still collect toys. And I could use some more articulated feline robot figures, since Mattel is making a massive *classic* Voltron figure =^.^=

I'm sure I'll enjoy Thundercats, I admit I haven't given Voltron Force a fair chance,
I just can't bring myself to watch it. :x
I guess companies are truly out of ideas and remaking EVERYTHING that made the 80's cool.
I suppose M.A.S.K, Turbo teen and Jace and the wheeled warriors are next?!!

And I suppose so, we'll just have to see.
As it stands I'm watching this and feeling I'm missing a huge load of back story, which is not what you want people to feel in episode one.
modern cartoon network cartoons get -10% from me.
so seeing this now is a touch better then what I thought was going to pop up on the screen. The animation is dated looking but the charecters and styles seem a bit more fleshed out then the old cartoon. Seriously, nostalgia aside, the original Thundercats was no prize winner for animation, or voice acting, so I can't complain on those fields.
From what we can see looks like Snarf just makes sounds now, THAT'S AN IMROVEMENT! Not to mention he looks like a dragon/persian cat so his charecter makes more sense in the setting, I like the old Snarf design alot but come on, no one ever knew what the hell he was, other then some troll faced lizard/rat.
The genaric faces on the main charecters is dissapointing, especially when I can see more custom designed faces and body styles on charecters in the background.
I'm ok with it so far, so I'd like to see what this cat drags in(bad pun) :3 <---cat face
Also, Whilly Kit and Kat are much more sensable as troublsome thieves and looters just looking for a meal versus two annoying pests that are bored and whine to the older adults to play with them all the damn time.
Why are the transitions so sudden? Is this just a mess of scenes from the pilot, or did they forget to do the fade? It almost feels more like a concept piece than a legit pilot episode.
The animation and style makes me think of the He-Man redux, like it might be the same studio but with more of an anime influence or something. Which is pretty "meh" to me, but I will admit I kind of like the redesign concepts so far.
You're right on all counts; the anime styling is really... off-putting. Sure, the only way this was going to get remade was by an anime studio, but they didn't have to go with Popular Anime Style #1. Does seem like a furry wet dream, though. Expect five metric tons of fanart from the fur community in general.
My biggest beef is that everyone just looks... too young. But... in a wierd way. Lion-O is supposed to be 24, the twins are supposed to be 12. Now he seems around 17ish, the twins... 9ish? IDK. And the whole plotline, king's son disguises himself to slum!
how originalMore sticking to the original would have been BETTER if they weren't going to go with something brand-spanking-new, but then, I'm a purist.I really hope this gets better. I'll stick around for the first season at least.
A) Ben Gali
B) Grune
C) Slythe
this one
Either way I'm not big on animu but I love the animation and designs, now that I've seen this I can't wait for the series to start!
Honestly though, I am just sick of the "anime look", and I'll be glad when the fad inevitably passes over for something else. I'm still gonna give it a chance, but my enthusiasm has cooled somewhat.
