New PC!
Well, everything went smoothly, and I now have a new PC. Sadly, it has Windows 7 on it, whereas I prefer XP, but it'll do!
The manlyfox says that it'll only be mine until we get me a NEW PC though.
Transfer of data went simply enough - hook up the old hard drive temporarily, with the new one still hooked into the new PC (so, two hard drives), and then copy everything from my user folder on the old hard drive, into a new folder on the new PC's desktop :P
So, yay! :D
Now for the fun of re-downloading the drivers I've been using, as well as re-downloading Steam and the other games. o.o

7 is actually nicer than xp in my experience. the transition should be fairly flawless. One thing you might want to look up is "enabling god mode" on your pc. It cuts down on having to hunt for a lot of preferences on your computer to do just about everything you want to customize, tweak, and all that other fun happy shit.

So, do you have a new PC or not? Are you borrowing one, or something?

OP
I'm technically "borrowing" this PC, until I get a brand new one. Basically, long-term loan.

So he had a spare PC around, I take it, and you're borrowing it until you can buy one of your own? Not bad.

Well, he had a spare, and he's letting me use it as my own until we (together) can buy one of my own. :)

Windows 7 sure beats Vista. x3 Glad to hear the computer woes are no more though.

You don't have to redownload steam. Steam has a backup function that will store your game data as a single file on your harddrive, which you can then transfer over :o

OP
No, what I mean is that Steam is not on this computer. :P I have to redownload the application.
