I have decided to convince myself that what I saw/heard was my own mind playing tricks on me, or swamp gas caught in a thermal pocket reflecting the light from venus or the beam from my flashlight reflected off something shiny on the back of the truck, and also lit up two bottlecaps on the ground or something, despite it being the middle of the desert. The whistling was... the wind.. Lets go with that.
