The metabolism of a small rock
In a haphazard attempt to whip myself into shape, I started on a diet. Nothing harsh, mind you, but one that was supposedly really effective. Y'know, one of those low carb/calorie/fat things. I mean, I looooooove meat, so it's really quite the easy transition for me.
I did a lot of research, gathered together a bunch of suggested menus and requirement lists, and have been religiously living off of water, diet soda, tuna, lean steaks, chicken and veggies since, like, MARCH. I even take the stairs when available, and my job requires me to walk all day, so I figured I had the aerobic requirements well within range...
...and I've lost

Nothing, nada...seriously, WTF? I know that my metabolism moves at a snail's pace, but really? If I wanted my weight to not change, I could have been eating *regular food* like candy and cake and rice and potatoes and friggin' soda for the past FOUR MONTHS...

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm at a loss here.

(Seriously? ho\w the fuck do people do it? I can eat a fucking half of an ice cream cake and all I get out of it is a sugar high and a bad tooth ache)
anyway, im not really sure how to help, sorry <.<
:3
I wish we could trade, then - I miss ice cream!
XD
LALALALALALALALALA NOT HELPING! NOT HEEEELPIIING!!

I totally forgot to mention that I'm doing the 5-little-meals-a-day thing - it's a little tough to pull off, since I rarely get breaks at work, but I usually get in at least 4 a day...
<<"
Hrmmm...I've been hearing some things like that about diet sodas lately - that'd be hilarious if the only "Diet" thing I'm consuming is what is actually wrecking my diet...
XD
Seafood is good for you, as is tuna, but you gotta be careful, eating tuna with mayo is BAD FOR YOU. Mayo is 100% FAT. It's really bad for you. So you can eat tuna... just not with Mayonnaise. :P
It's also good to portion yourself. Eat less. It's good to eat healthy, but to lose weight it does nothing if you still eat a horse's portion of food. Instead of two scoops of veggies, try just one... and instead of a WHOLE steak, try just a half. One of the MAIN keys to losing weight is making your stomach smaller, and the only way to do that is eating MUCH LESS.
These are just a few things I've found out in my weight loss efforts x3 I've lost 15lbs in a week, too, and I have an EXTREMELY slow metabolism as well. D:
GOOD LUCK!!!

Awww...no burger? Oh my...what will I eat when everyone wants to go out?
=@.@=
Heh, yeah, all of my guides were really clear about the no mayo - I've been eating my tuna with little shot of hot sauce ;3
Hrmmm...the portion size might be my next experiment. According to my guides, portion size is irrelevant as long as the numbers (carbs, fat, calories) stay low - shoot, some of them *encourage* larger portions, as they should give your metabolism a boost.
But, yeah, since this doesn't seem to be working for me, I might as well try the tiny portions.

Thanks for the luck and advice! I need all I can get!

I have also found this site to be informative. http://www.scoobysworkshop.com/index.htm There are some useful nutritional tools listed on there if you have not already looked into them.
=^^=
Yeah, I've been eating lots of Jack in the Box grilled chicken tenders while everyone else has Jumbo Jacks...

I've actually been doing the more/smaller meals thing - I eat 5 little snack/meals throughout the day (usually some carrots and broccoli and tuna, or a little square of lean meat). According to my daily totals, I'm taking in less than half of the minimal carbs/fat/calories one burns in a day, so I should be losing weight by simply being *alive*...but somehow I'm not - and that's the mystery.
=^^="
Anyways, I'm sorry you're having such trouble :( That really sucks! You totally deserve to lose weight considering how little calories you're eating :'3
Now, I didn't kill myself with a diet or anything; I just paid a bit more attention to what I ate, and how often. I also varied it up every day (working full-time means 5 days a week of eating at work...) I learned quick and easy ways to mix and match rather healthy stuff (oh yes, I might have forgotten to mention we were one with a buffet, so we had lots of options), like salads, rice, beans, veggies to keep it all going. I weaned myself off of Soda altogether, and stuck to just water (anywhere from 1 to 2 Gal a day)
Then; the other part (because diet alone is really about 1/5th of the 'fat destroying factor') I walked literally EVERYWHERE, EVERY DAY; (not to worry; you get used to it ^^) Then, I decided to use the free time I had to do some exercises at home: Just your basic Situps, crunches and pushups at first; nothing super fancy. The key thing I did though, was first, I did as many of each as I could, one exercise type at a time; to gauge my limits. I'd give myself an hour or so between each to let myself 'bounce back', and then try a different one. Soon (like in a week or two) I found that it was easier to keep doing the exercises, and push for higher numbers each time. The important part is to keep going as long as you can (without hurting yourself, of course ^^;). This is a sure-fire method of speeding up your metabolism (and getting some rather smexy definition as a bonus ^^)
In short, if you increase your activity and water intake gradually, your body starts to get into "work mode" more often and longer, forcing your metabolism to speed up. I'm not saying it's easy, especially at first; but keep on keeping on, man; you'll get there. ^^
Another suggestion would be religious DDR; but that's another story... XD

You might've missed the points in my journal where I mentioned that I've only been eating raw vegetables and lean meats this whole time (pretty much zero carbs, low fat and low calories)...and that my job requires me to walk all day long. I have those two bases covered.
Buuuut you have a point with the focused exercises - I've not been doing them like I should. With only 4 hours a day of "me-time", I've been hesitant to spend a large chunk of that exercising, but I guess that I'll have to keep making sacrifices if I want this to work.
:3
It's just irritating me a bit that most folks can eat whatever they want as long as it's within reason, and don't really need to spend ALL of their time focusing on losing weight to stay within the "normal" range. It's not fair that some of us can't eat anything, and have to spend most of our waking hours exercising, just to keep from blimping out. It's not fair at all!

In the last two months I've lost 25 lbs though, even though I have NO idea how I did it. My pant size has gone down 4 to 5 sizes since this time last year. However, my bust size has gone up. *shrugs* I guess I'm just redistributing the weight. :D
Sometimes you just hit a plateau and need extra work to get over it. Then, once you've dropped to a weight you're comfortable with, you just exercise enough to maintain.
A lot of people will say to stay away from iceberg lettuce, because it's got very little nutritional value in it, but if you're like me, and eat BIG, using it as a filler actually helps. That way I feel full without overloading my system with anything but fiber and water.
Throw in a jog every so often instead of just walking. Maybe your body is just too used to the level of activity you're already getting. If you're maintaining your weight with the activity you're getting then you need to amp it up a bit.
And remember this.....
WEIGHT isn't everything. MUSCLE weighs more than FAT. You could be losing fat and gaining a weight equivalent amount of muscle. Check to make sure your clothes are fitting the same.
=^^="
Mrrr...iceberg lettuce kinda makes me gag,,,but I have been eating tons of raw carrots and broccoli - they do help to fill in my menu a lot.
:3
Uhmmmm...can't really jog...something's up with my feet/ankles/achilles tendons - I can't get on my tip-toes, which means no jumping, no hopping, no running...it's one of the first things I'm going to have checked now that I *finally* have insurance.
=<<="
I've considered getting another bike (left my old one on the other side of the continent) - I can pedal with my heels instead of the balls of my feet, and still get some decent exercise.
:3
I hope the problem with your ankles turns out okay.
