so we put in a bid on the house last night

we decided not to lowball it much on the offer, since someone else was putting in a bid on the same property and the bank which owns it had made a counter-offer they hadn't responded to. we also put a real small time window on the bid, expires on the 15th (two days)
the logic/hope is that the bank will go 'oh look someone willing to pay what we're asking and they want a response quickly SOLD'
home buying is a lot more stressful than the nonsense related to getting married. i guess it's cause i know one will work. but the other...i mean a house can have ghosts and damages and problems that don't rear their head until you're already inside.

another part of ghosts being a concern is that alf is kinda phobic of ghosts and probably wouldn't be happy in a ghost house
My bro-friend bought his house just when the market collapsed years ago. He got it for $25k under asking, which I think was $25k less that assessed value.
In the first couple of months, he started to find the stupid jerry-rigged crap the previous owner had put in. Most of it is stuff that a hammer or screwdriver can take care of.
