Another sonnet. Hokay. Again, barely five
minutes work.
This raises my eyebrows a bit. Is hanging
around FA what it will take to awaken the
poet in me? Two sonnets in two weeks.
Might be. I'm not complaining here, y'
understand. I could, in fact, see an
interesting little niche for myself with
this.
Although in order to get anybody to *read*
poetry, the only workable strategy on FA is
to tack the poem onto a picture. The yiffier
the better (or so it seems)
No disrespect intended either to those
who read poetry or those who don't. In the
'real world,' poetry is a highly neglected
art form. Didn't used to be.
Granted, the poems here deal with fur
subjects and themes. Fine, and this is
no reason to think they'll be any more
popular.
Unless I start writing porny fur sonnets?
Hmmm...
In a valiant effort to give the readers
what they want, I might be able to oblige.
Could be done, except the sonnet form isn't
that well-suited to explicitly erotic
subjects.
The way the puppies are built, you get
three four-line 'paragraphs' to cover
your ground, then two last lines to
throw out a 'conclusion,' something to
wrap the thing up and make the reader
go Ahhhh...
Come to think of it, in a porn sonnet,
the couplet would be where you want to
put the orgasm(s). Ahhh... Or Aieegh!!!
if you're writing an S&M porn sonnet.
(It's almost certainly been done by
somebody. If it's readable, different
issue).
No, better for now to stick with the
program. Sonnets do well at capturing
one person's feelings towards another
person. The general subject of a sonnet
is the nature of the relationship
between two people.
At least this is where a poet can mine
a lot of gold. Sure, you can write
sonnets about trees, birds, kumquats,
the Republican Party (Aieegh! Repeat
for 14 lines), whatever you want.
People are just what other people
like to read about.
(NB: I'm not partisan; say Democrats
and that joke works just as well).
'People,' however, takes on a slightly
different meaning around here.
As do the relationships that can happen
between them.
And the nature of the feelings that can
happen between them.
Ergo, there could be quite a few of these
in me waiting to get out.
And if Poetigress ever gives us the word
'whip' in the Thursday Prompt?
Oh boy, is *that* one gonna be fun. :- >
