I've started a new file for Diablo II with level 1 characters of every class, and refused to leave normal mode at all. I have farmed Mephisto and Baal for a while now mostly on my necromancer and paladin and collected enough set pieces that every character generally has a couple varied set pieces mixed and matched, if not a full set. Granted, these are the low level sets, but the bonuses can easily carry you through normal mode.

I've built up a magic finding set that can exceed 300% magic find.(thank you Gull Dagger) This is where I broke the game. Staying on normal, my paladin has gotten up to level 46 and just made Baal drop him the unique Dwarf Star ring...which is a level 45 unique. Until now, i'd been sure you couldn't possibly see that thing until Hell Mode, but evidently normal mode is willing to give me broken gear when my magic find is so absurd! XD

Currently debating if I should change out from 3/3 Cleglaw and 3/6 Sigon in order to use an overpowered level 42 unique mace Baal dropped that has a chance of dropping meteors on enemies, which is absolutely hilarious. Its damage range is enough it might outdo the 50% deadly strike and 35% crushing blow I get for the full Cleglaw set... We're talking going from about 30-430 dmg to 330-630 dmg off the top of my head, plus random meteor explosions. When my fanaticism is nearly at level 20 that mace is really tempting. I'd get to use Sigon pieces more freely as a result, and since I only need 3/6 pieces to make the boots gain 50% magic find and I've obtained all of the set by now except the chestpiece(argh! Dx) I can freely decide what ones will work best for whatever setup I need. I will say that the Cleglaw shield sucks and that replacing it with the Sigon shield for the +1 to skills or perhaps any unique shield that drops for nifty bonuses(excluding Pelta Lunata or whatever the horrible buckler I've found twice now). Steelclash would be nice, I accidentally dumped one thinking it was a Milabrega somehow...

Now back to trying to get more high magic find Nagelrings and Chance Guards!
(edit: oh yeah, trying out a 2h unique hammer killed Mephisto in the space of one Zeal attack and Baal is going down as if he were only a champion enemy with stoneskin or something, except faster...)
