What I know so far:
They will have in-depth spectator capabilities that let you search by friend, hero or other criteria and view matches in progress, likely with a slight lag time to prevent abuse.

The payment model is said to be innovative. More on the site above, but game -might- be free to play after a fashion. Again, see the link.

Next update should be mid-August for European game expo. They are still saying Q4 of 2011.

You know, I would have sworn that game was abandoned. They really shoulda had some sort of presence at E3.

They opted out! Apparently they have no other active projects right now beyond DotA2 and Icefrog has been silent on it. Still, we're seeing beta testing and changelogs.

Can only imagine how they pull this off without upsetting Blizz's legal dept, but Valve and Blizz get along well I have heard.

Well, DotA had nothing to do with Blizzard. It was a hack. This time around they're writing their own engine, so I guess that's how they're not upsetting Blizzard. Also, you can look this up--you cannot copyright gameplay! Although someone told me in the past that Valve had to pay for some certain rights to use DotA. Not sure what.

Not so much the gameplay, but the character models, animations. DotA was built - as my understanding - using WC3 developer tools, a very advanced custom map. These are generally remedied with GUI swaps, though, and seen some updated graphics (nothing in a long ass while though).

I started Ultima Online a night ago. Yes, you heard correctly. LOL.

Oh.. LoL! League of Legends is fun, if you ever liked DotA. Monday Night Combat is fun. Spiral Knights is a cute diversion. And.. uh.. Global Assault is neat. But you hate MMO's... although none of these are traditional. They are all free on Steam, though.

If you play on a private server (like I am), yes. Also, that game is FREAKING HARD.
