Thats the basics of it I could easy have done things to make my life easy mainly not give a damn But by my choices I suffer in my pursuit of happiness

I believe that we are who we are because of experiences. If we were the way we were born as the person we are now,we'd be stupid,we wouldnt have scars,we wouldnt have common sense,for me the saying ''born this way'' means when you were born looking a specific way or something like that,I believe the saying is quite misused,I believe more in the sequence of events that slowly morphed you-created you into what you or any other person is now.

Well said. I'm getting quite annoyed of people using the simple "Born that way" to answer a question about views, or sexuality. Its a sheepish way of saying you're too lazy to look back into your life and see how others have effected you.

I'm a very scientifically-minded person. Should there ever be proof that pure randomness is possible, then I would believe that there are choices. If, however, it turns out it is not, then I would believe in fate.

No; if there is no true randomness then everything is entirely predictable.

I'm gonna say fate/destiny. Mostly cause experiences in life changes ones view on everything, you may be born one way, but life ultimately changes your views on things...so yea, fate/destiny takes precedence over being "born this way"

Personally i supposr the nuture camp in the debate. our genes only count for so much, it's out life experiences, upbringing, culture and perception thereof that determine who we are

I actually believe its different for everyone... I dont believe in the SIMPLE answer of "born that way", but I do believe you get a lot from birth, but that your experiences in life change who you are as a person, and make you into who you are....

but what I dont like about this (a lot of people think the same) is that because its life experiences, that things like your sexuality can be forcefully changed..

that being said, I happen to believe that sexuality is not NORMALLY a choice, and that it deppends on the events in your life, or just your personality your born with. I'm not completely sure HOW you get it, but I know its not usually a choice in life.

I am what I am. I am who I have shaped myself to be. I am what I am by the people that I have met. I am who I am by what I've done. I am who I am because of what my parents were. I will continue to change as my actions change and as I learn from what I see. This is because I am what I am.

I don't think I was "born this way". I'd definitely say there were some key events in my life that led me to make the choices I've made and the paths I've taken.

The latter option, and as such, I hope to continue to have experiences and people and choices shape me more and more into a better person.
