24 Hour Comic - Done!
Those of you who read my last journal may remember one of the ideas I was considering to get my creative juices flowing again was to do a 24-hour comic, a challenge in which you try to produce a 24 page comic in 24 continuous hours.
Well, I have now tried it, and I succeeded!
I started at 8am saturday and worked on it through until just before 8am sunday. I actually finished drawing the last page with about an hour and 45 mins left, but used that time to go back and tidy up the pages and check them over. I finished everything I wanted to with just a couple of minutes left.
Right now, I'm tired, aching and my drawing hand is sore (had to take a break a few time during the 24 hours to rest it), but I also feel bloody good. It seems to have done the trick, I am definitely feeling more creatively charged now than I was before. And succeeding at the challenge has massively boosted my mood and self-confidence.
I will be posting the comic later, after I've relaxed and had some sleep.
But be warned, it's not my best work. It's sort of an odd story, that I mostly made up as I went along (in accordance with the rules of the challenge, I didn't have a story or characters planned, it was all created during those 24 hours). It's not in colour and not even inked (I didn't have time for either). Anyone expecting a yiffy comic will be disappointed.
It's going to be interesting to see what people think of it...

FA+

And yeah, its a great achievement, but its one plenty of others have done before me...
Your comic was great by the way.
If i were to do anything more with this story, I would redraw the thing from scratch, do it better, fix the problems, flesh things out. You never know, I might actually do that some day. :)
Besides, I'm happy to leave it as it is, warts and all. As it stands, it's something I can look at and tell myself 'THIS is what I'm capable of doing in 24 hours if I put my mind to it', which is a great confidence booster. I think it would lose a lot of the impact if I had to add 'except for those bits which I redrew later'.
But that doesn't mean I can't redo the story later, in full-colour improved form. In fact, it's very tempting to try and do it at some point...
I am very proud of myself for managing it, as when I started, I wasn't I'd be able to, and I'm glad to prove myself wrong! :)
Sokar: Interesting imagery...
Anyhoop. Im am prioud you have successfully passed this task. And dont matters what it is, we will all know the meaning behind it, even when that brain block is heavy, one quest, one challenge can set you free. And thats what you did dude.
I realllllllly llok forward to seeing what you have come up with! And good luck to you on your next projects and creativity!
The comic is up now, and I hope you get the chance to read it soon and see what you think. :)
Yes! I still need to do that. Been away so long things gotten heavy with inbox! Eek! I am sooo looking forward to reading it! Need to have a clear day of just pure concentration. I will get to it.
