Don't Know Why I Bother....
I'm a bit down right now. I just checked Webcomiclist (as I do every now and then) and found out that Keenfox's webcomic "Transmission" - one that's only been going for a couple of months and only has 22 strips - is already higher up the list than mine which I've slaved away on for over five fucking years.
Don't get me wrong, Transmission is a great comic and I don't hold anything against Keeny for it....it's just bummed me out a bit.
It's kind of like...I dunno, I guess I just thought that after 5 years I'd at least have SOME recognition from my peers or something.
Maybe the humour is wrong, maybe my irratic update schedule puts people off continued reading, maybe the characters aren't likable enough, maybe Woods for the Trees just isn't as good as I've convinced myself it is.
Ok, ok...I'm not having a whinge - well I suppose I am - but I'm not throwing a tantrum...but I feel like Dr Hook; Everyone's making it big but me

Transmission has been going for nearly six months now, that said I've not been updating it so frequently recently (I've kind of lost interest in it just now owing to other projects) and kind of don't know if it is even a worthwhile project or not. I do want to keep it going though, regardless of whether I update it frequently or sporadically; so long as there's an audience. The fact I do the pages in full colour obviously takes time and I sometimes question if that is even necessary.
I think you're more cut out for webcomics than me anyway You are more prolific and the style works very well in black and white! Someday I'd like to have a book released of my comic strips, but considering what sort of comic I have (full colour) I think yours is much better suited to that than me. Keep at it ;)
I dunno, I guess it's one of those things...like every band thinks they'll be big. I gotta check my ego in and give it a good kicking. That said, it is somewhat gaulling that comics like Jay Naylor's are as big as they are when cartoons like ours, and a couple of others I could name, are in comparison small.
Last thing is that you should totally keep up with the comic, even if the update schedule suffers - it's a funny and well drawn strip :D
Some comics are able to take off and make it big. Others just don't seem to get the same notice. It pisses me off! This may well make a good subject for a journal
If you ever want to get proper bummed out, go to The Belfry and look at their top-10 most subscribed comics. Freefall and Faux Pas are the only two there I like (VG Cats too...but describing that as "furry" is retarded) and of the others on JACK and Sab Online have any redeming qualities (even if JACK went up it's own arse about 2007 and now lives up there)
Hell, there's TWO of Naylor's strips in the top 10!!! What do people see in that cardboard cut out, lowest common denominator, right-wing, teenage sexuality driven drivvel? It's like Dawson's Creek with furries...oh wait; that explains it.
