Oh, definitely. Since this is a complete reboot of the original series, there's no need to watch the old show unless you want to get a couple of familiar elements and Easter eggs (such as how Lion-O first summons the Sword of Omens' power, which is an exact pose-by-pose recreation of the original character's summoning in the theme song of the first series). Definitely recommended!
