As those who follow my Facebook and LiveJournal already know, my roommate's cable was cut off for nonpayment on July 17th, leaving me with only one way to access the Internet: My phone's 3G and wi-fi. We have no local unsecured wi-fi connections, and of course 3G is rather slow and unreliable (not to mention drinks battery life like an electronic vampire). I don't expect to get my cable back anytime soon since despite my best efforts to lower the bill (which fell on deaf ears, my roommate wouldn't compromise on having all premium services Cox Communications offered for $202/month!) we owe $583 to the cable company.

I've been donating plasma for the last month just to pay my own expenses (gas, cell phone, storage) and couldn't raise that kind of money in 6 months of donating now that the payouts have dropped to $65 weekly for 2 donations ($20 for the first and $45 for the second). Food stamps have covered our food expenses (barely) and have meant cheating on my diet everytime the balance gets low.
