Tell me why they make bridge support structures out of relatively flexible steels then put stiff concrete on top that'll just shatter and crack after vehicles bounce the bridge all over the place?
HUH?
Also how much longer until our 50-year-old bridgefrastructure crumbles down?
Metal grating also corrodes really fast, especially in an environment such as ours; Winnipeg has one of the most extreme temperature ranges out there(-30 in winter to the 110s in the summer) which means that things weather pretty quickly. Especially if they're throwing rock salt on the roads. Concrete just lasts longer overall and is easier to repair.
Let's reinvent the bridge. Carbon fiber, fiberglass, and bamboo.
My longboard is made of bamboo and I have bamboo chopsticks.
I see no reason we can't have bamboo bridges!
I can name two or three bridges around here where the decks have rebar showing via potholes. Maybe I should get pics.
I feel horribly neglected.
