I'm pondering taking commissions again. Thing is this time I want to make a smaller queue for color work, and I'm not sure how much interest there is. If there's alot - how do I make the selection process fair? Random number generator? Not everyone sees postings at the same time. Of course this all speculative on whether anyone would care.
However it would break down to say 4 slots at a time for color stuff, and those would have a monthly deadline, meaning #4 would most likely be done in 4 months from the initial slot listing. I'm thinking it should be like this because last time I had someone waiting far far too long.
I could probably do sketches in larger quantities given the following restrictions, it's a sketch, I'll do my best based on the info you give me, but I'm not going to revise it. If you don't like the preliminary version I guess that's it. It's kinda like a variation on con sketching. I suppose things can be worked out if it's way off. But we'll see. So far I'm holding to the what you see is what you get method. These of course will be priced way lower than color work.
And of course I still need to look into payment methods. I have reservations about several methods, but that needs more looking into.
So. Any thoughts?

How about an auction?
Its happened to me far far far too much. RNG's arent very good either cause again, not
everyone who wants something would ever get a piece.
Which is good, because, let's face it, furry art is pathetically cheap.
again, what i say is what i believe
an i aint the only one.
Be professional and charge solidly for work taken, and worry less about how you take the work.
How to handle a large number of interested parties is something I don't have as much firsthand experience with, because my commission runs are generally much smaller affairs. I typically open a certain number of slots at a time and go first-come, first-serve. But if you do get too many to handle, and you don't feel that first-come first-serve meets your own ethics, then I would probably opt for a lottery with a number generator.
Something else you could do is limit it to one commission per person until everyone has had a chance, instead of perhaps letting one or two people with lots of money buy up all the slots.
Just a small-time artist's two cents; feel free to take it or leave it. And in any case, good luck! You've got a really nice, living style, and I think you'll make whoever commissions you very happy!
