i am interested in knowing this too. from what i've heard, FruityLoops Studio is good at doing it, but you have to know what you're doing or else it comes out sounds too modern. i'm sure there are other good programs for bit-music but i haven't looked into it enough to know them. try asking that guy someone above me mentioned. i hope they know something good. i'm interested in what you might find.
