What just happened to me..... at a Dept Store?

Howdy!
Well, as some of ya'll know I'm going to RMFC tomorrow, well I needed something to help me travel with my fursuit head.
Disclaimer: I am NOT a fursuit builder. These people aint gonna know so I lied, I couldn't be truthful cause that'd be worse then lying.
I went to Dillards to ask for a plastic bag. I'm going to use it to put my fursuit head into it and use it to carry it around the airport and on the plane. The counter lady asked me "uhhh......what do you need it for?" Several things popped into my head that i wanted to tell her like "for my auto-erotic asphyxiation (sp?) fetish...." however I'm to nice, so I told the person at the counter that I desgined the "mascot" costume heads for football games and that I was flying to Denver in the morning with one, so I wanted to use the bag since it was thick plastic and carryable. The lady looked at me like I was fucking crazy.....then said "uhm,.....sir I'm afraid I need to call my manager to see about that."
The manager came down and I repeated my story. She nodded and then shook her head "I'm sorry sir,....I can't just give you a dillards bag." I was all "uhhh....okay?" She then proceeded to tell me all she could give me was a clear plastic garment bag, upon recieving the bag (that ripped the moment I got it) I asked her if I could buy a wallet, and her just put it in a BIG bag. She informed me that would be most impossible as they were only allowed to give bags out, to the appropriate size as needed for the merchandise.
I nodded my head, said thank you for the garment bag and walked next door to JCPennys. To which I then told the counter lady, I apparently have a very odd request.... at which she looked at me like I was about to ask her and her mother to have sex with me while I wore a chicken outfit. Then I informed her I wanted a large plastic bag,.... she nodded and said "Okay how big would you like?" I told her the correct dimensions and then she handed me the correct bag and asked me,... why I had told her it was such a weird request. I informed her of what had happened at Dillards and she laughed and said "they're snobby at Dillards"
So that was just,...fucking weird guys. So i'm sorry for all you fursuiters that have to go through such questioning when just trying to get a plastic bag.

I actually use a foot locker for my fursuit, it makes sure nothing gets crushed in the move between home and con.....and apparently keeps me from getting asked stupid questions at the department store.....

I just have a partial, so I only really need to protect the head. The footlocker was just too big, I will do that if I ever get a fullsuit however.

I usually have at least 2 heads with me....(fursuit maker FTW) so the footlocker is a good buy. They do have small strongboxes at sears and such that are just big enough for a partial that might be the better ticket for you.

A lot of stores seem very unwilling to just hand bags out--I think it's because they're afraid of theft of some sort. It's still ridiculous--I was in a rather small Hot Topic store in a mall and asked for a bag. When the guy said no, I said he could even escort me out the door with the bag (which, BTW, was about 20 feet from the counter, with ceiling-to-floor glass windows facing into the rest of the mall--he could EASILY watch me leave the store and make sure I didn't steal anything without even having to leave his counter)...and it was still "no." Corporate policy is a bitch sometimes.
