How do you do it? I'm still trying to get through a short story that I've drawn up.

I tend to get really visual when I come up with a story that I'm really attached to, and when I can really see the story play out in my head, that's when it flows the best. Sometimes it's tough - I tried three or four times to get this one going this week, and it didn't really pay off all that well, but today I was really able to visualize it and pumped out quite a bit.

If you've got a story plotted out, you might want to try and write parts of it, see if you can get a piece done here or there, and then work on joining them - that can help too. After I made this post I had a brainwave for the finale of this story, so I wrote another 1000 words to get the final scene down on paper before I lost it. Now I have to join everything. =P

Hehe, we're totally on the same page with that one. When I am ready to write, I just open a word processor program and go. The scenes can be pieced together later.
My problem is that I tend to think 'visually' as in I can *sketch* my ideas into a simple storyboard/comic form. However, changing what I see into text form can be difficult.

I often wish I could draw, because it's so difficult to get the same imagery to appear in words as in my head. The best we can do when writing is to be as descriptive as possible with what I would call restrained detail - describe things in a way that gives the reader a base to visualize what we want them to see. It's not easy, but I think it's worth it if you can pull it off.
