This guy's been sitting up on this radio tower for 6 days. Just... no reason I guess? Watch.

Jim Carry's usually pretty awesome though.
It's interesting and sad.
I mean if I took a tour of the White House and insisted I didn't want to leave, people wouldn't just be at a respectable distance trying to negotiate with me to get me out. The only reason this is taking so long is they don't want him to snuff it falling accidentally to his death, which the city could be liable for during a rescue. People writing to the news station are already upset at the public cost of police and fire department emergency expense being spent on this kook and say if he jumps, he jumps, or if he gets blown off and falls, well that was his fault. It comes back to how much expense taxpayers want to go to for support of emergencies brought about by the activities of homeless or otherwise street-bound mentally ill people.
Which is basically zero.
Which is exactly the same amount they want to spend medicating the mentally ill so they don't have episodes like this in the first place.
Which is exactly the same amount they want to spend institutionalizing the mentally ill, which they used to do, but it was shown to be inhumane, so it was done away with.
So if you're mentally ill, nobody wants to pay a cent to help you be better. This is why (in part) we wanted to create national health care. But of course, it still doesn't take care of these people, so they're taking it apart so it works even less to take care of these problems instead of doing what we hoped it might.
Mental illness doesn't just go away because we ignore it financially. I still propose teachers become more aware of warning signs, and parents learn to not be ashamed or embarrassed about learning disabilities and mental illnesses, be concerned about its commonality, its easy treatment and care, and its genetic basis. (Part of why blood tests are important.)
