If I may, although it doesn't sound like you need it, but, there is a wonderful book out there called "My Husband Is Gay", by Carol Grever. It's a very interesting look at the psychological and sociological aspects of being in a relationship very much like what you described. If nothing else, it might be an interesting read for the two/three of you. ^.^

But I agree with you that there are as many dgrees between gay and straight as there are people. I don't believe in absolutes, in black and white. I believe in grays...and rainbows too. ^0^

For the record I was talking about AtomicCat, not you, hon. =D There's a difference with being married to a woman platonically and being "straight with a gay lover", which assumes that he's mainly interested in women but has a man on the side.

It's a weird thing to contemplate innit? Ok, here's a stumbling best I can do. I think I'm more of one o them who's on a case-by-case basis for one, but have never really gone for guys, I can however stretch my imagination. Hmm, relations... The Greeks divided love into three major categories (they discussed the hell outa everything didn't they?) They had Eros, plain old lust and physical attraction. I think most relationships that break up start with this and end because there's nothing of the other two. The other two are Paternos and Agape. Paternos is as the root suggests, from parental love but is the same as love for a teacher/mentor/student. Agape is "spiritual" love but this is also love for an ideal, a thought, a philosophy, what have you. We are linked very closely by those two types, but not so heavily with the first. All these forms interlock, flow, grow and fade of course. So it is as it should be, HE turns me on, not so much his bod (although I'm enormously grateful that he ain't um, heh, I don't like hairy and smelly :D)

There's also 'phillepe' or Brotherly Love. Don't forget that one. ;D And Eros isn't a type of love, technically, the Greeks considered that separate from love. Sorry to be a stickler, 3 years of seminarian study of the Greek Bible can make people crazy. ;P

Nobody need ever apologize for correcting or expanding my knowledge base! By the quickie definitions I read I would have lumped the brotherly love into the Paternos category. Gosh they sure could discuss the hell outa things eh? :D

I didn't know that of course about the Eros thing of course. Would it have been because they saw it as more of a physical thing, easily sated, kind of shallow, and perhaps shared with the 'lower orders' which are incapable of the other types?
