Yes, I'm gay. Yes, I think marriage is more tradition than sense. Yes, I support the right of gay people to get married if they like, as I don't believe the "institution" of marriage is any more sacred than a civil contract.
Nevertheless...I have to announce that today is, in fact, my twenty-first Wedding Anniversary.
she has a live in boyfriend...and I have a semi-regular date night with a guy I really like...but in an interesting way, our relationship has never been better. I guess the key to a successful marriage is, be friends.

It didn't work for me.
If you can make that work, kudos to you! You are a better man than I. It's rare to see a thing like that working out like you say it is. Congrats.
P.S. I'm straight... and have a gay lover. I love the fucking 21'st century! I think this is the time when some of those old old redundant and now harmful walls will fall.
But I agree with you that there are as many dgrees between gay and straight as there are people. I don't believe in absolutes, in black and white. I believe in grays...and rainbows too. ^0^
I didn't know that of course about the Eros thing of course. Would it have been because they saw it as more of a physical thing, easily sated, kind of shallow, and perhaps shared with the 'lower orders' which are incapable of the other types?
Oh, and what do you think of my um, well, examination of this relationship?
oh heavens to mergatoid, my world has been turned upside down! (and soundly paddled and screwed ;) )
I would have NEVER guessed! o_o
;) Much love pup. happy holiday and best wishes.
Congratulations on an apparently successful, if unconventional, 21st anniversary! I hope the Religious Right is grateful to people like you for helping keep the divorce statistics down. :)
And I always thought it was Filios, Agape and Eros... Guess not. Learn sometin' new everyday. *grins*
