can we read it even if we're girls?

Of course!

I've seen this blog post going around for the last few years. I always found it shocking, so I've shown it to a great many of my female freinds, including some who have been sexually abused or raped. Every one of them (including the ones with a history of sexual abuse) has either thought that blog post some sort of sick joke, or the work of somone who's paranoia is so great that they live the life of a hermit or shut in.

Considering this is VERY MUCH how some of us feel, I think it makes a vaild point. If a woman says no, it means NO! Not "If I keep pestering her she'll eventually come around."

I don't mind being approached in public if I'm giving off the right body language. If I smile and talk back to you, its a good sign. If I turn away and ignore you, leave me the hell alone. Just like it states in the blog post.

It explains to guys that, no, we are NOT fridgid bitches who won't give you the time of day. You just need to be more clever on how you approach us, because most of us actually fear for our safety. It's not you, it's the state of the world. Get over it, work around it, give a woman the respect she deserves (even if that means giving up) and you'll be just fine.

I have no issues with somone being cautious. And I fully respect anyone's right to say no at any time. I have no problems at all with that. Were the blog post more realistic, I'd actually support its message.

Its the "I see every man as a potential rapist" tone that the author takes. Thats sexist and offensive. It would be no different than if I said "I see every African American as a potential mugger" or "I wonder if every gay person has aids?"

I can see you view point. Yeah, I guess the tone is a little excessive, but the message is still somewhat true.

I've actually always assumed that all women think that way, period.

Particularly with me, 'cause, well... I look like a Mes'can gangbanger and all. xD

A society where a document like that needs to be written at all is a sad, pitiful society, indeed.

That this sort of thing needs to be written is the harsh reality of the world we've created, and a lot of people seem to not like being reminded of it.
