So it came to my attention that some asshat on Gawker.com defecated this idiotic diatribe about 'Ten things to send back to France'.

Consequently, I thought about a sarcastic rebuttal.
Here's my list of 10 things nitwits like them don't know we have because of France, because they're idiots that spout inane garbage thinking they're being funny.
No particular order:
10. Modern tanks (every tank up to the FT-17 was essentially a big landship.)
9. Smokeless gunpowder
8. Vaccinations
7. Pencils
6. The idea that diseases are caused by microbes, and not demons.
5. 2/3 of the United States' territory
4. Radiology
3. SCUBA gear
2. Hot air balloons
1. Sewing machines
And that's just naming the ones that come to mind offhand.
Something else that irritates me whenever this occurs, is somebody piping in with, 'it's just a joke'.
Well, think about it like this: What if I said, 'Your mother's a fat, syphilitic whore.' or, 'Jews are dirty money grubbing sub-humans'. Then I turned around and tried to pull the, 'Get over yourself, its a joke' shield?
I'm sorry, but tasteless jokes that mock the value of entire groups of people for nonsense reasons, especially when the deaths of thousands or more are involved, cease to be jokes.

what is this? XD.I really don't get the thing with refusing the metric system. Especially since the USA were one of the first country to adopt it after France created it.

Adopt it? We're one of the only countries in the world that doesn't use the metric system predominantly. We still use the old English Standard (inches, feet, miles, etc). Which is what makes that entry even more confusing.
