Here's a good breakdown of what's going to be happening to my favorite game when it goes Free-To-Play.
I had a lot of fun beta-testing it this weekend, and I can't wait to really run a new character through the revamped first 20 levels of hero and villain story arcs.

Most roleplaying seems to happen on the Virtue server.
I do have a defunct SG on Virtue, plus a Roxi type character called Pink Rocket, but my main crew runs on Pinnacle, along with my two level 50s who have enough cash to fund starting characters of me and all my friends. I also converted WAY TOO MUCH game-currency into prestige to give my Tron-furry supergroup friends enough points to let me really deck out their starting superbase called The Protocol. The TRON uniform seems to be the black sleek tights with the Perplex pattern and different armor parts coupled with animal body parts, a theme of a monster from Greek mythology and a file extension.
Anyway! I thought it might be interesting to let you know the names of the five furries I met up with who responded to my journal entry and even made new toons on Pinnacle just to hang out with me. :) We all chat on Skype at the same time, which is a nice change from the RP typing chat that I do with the RP Congress.

Me, I play Harpy.BAT a pink Dark/Psy defender bat girl.
If you login there and I'm not busy, I will be happy to show you the Tron themed supergroup with 17 invention salvage storage racks, invention station, and a room I modeled after Flynn's apartment from the Legacy movie (update: It doesn't look that way anymore).
I just like running with a themed SG for once.
Anyway, my OWN SG is called Crossed Swords, which really just has me and another player named SuperN0va. My SG's theme is refugees from Praetoria, and heroes that used to be villains, ones that are vigilantes (which means you've done tip missions to allow you to change your alignment and freely move from Paragon City to the Rogue Isles). I've really not done much with it since my other friends invited me into the Protocol.
The RP Congress folks at rpcongress.com are around 10 folks that chat on the RPC OOC channel and team up and chat in-character. I really hang out mostly with them because the fantasy writer Mercedes Lackey is one of our group. She has been so inspired by her characters and roleplay since 2005 that she made the Secret World Chronicles podcast that was just released as a book this winter. http://secretworldchronicle.com/ found on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Invasion-Book.....046&sr=8-1.
Anyway, 'Misty' is very friendly and likes our group because we don't fanboy her about her stories and treat her like another player. Her SG is the CCCP, a robust base based on former Russian Soviet heroes tasked with fighting crime in America for public relations and defending the strong working people. Listening to the podcast really helped my long 20 hour drive back and forth from Pennsylvania to Florida to finish up affairs at my stepmom's house after my Dad's passing in June.

Yes, the "real life" statesman is apparently every bit the egotistical douche you'd expect to claim the identity of someone who's basically Superman and Captain Marvel after doing the fusion dance and putting on a patriotic suit. Kind of telling that when they made "Praetorian Earth", an alternate dimension, Statesman's nickname there is "Tyrant" and he rules the world with an iron fist as "Emperor Cole."
City is ssssooooo much better than the utter disappointment that is Champions. There's so much more varied content, especially if you don't just power level up to 50 and then just keep running the same three or for Task Force chains over and over *glares at a few of his buddies*
Expansion content.
"Signature storyline" mission arcs.
Starting with more than 2 character slots per server.
That's really about the only things they're not offering for free. Of course if you buy anything, or bought the game previously, then it's yours forever.
well, after 7 years I turned my COH account back on.
half of my characters has been 'administrativly removed for lack of use'
and the rest... weren't fun any more.
oh, sure, some of the new options were mildly interesting, but in some cases I spent DAYS setting up my original 13 characters...
we are not allowed to post screenshots, or I'd post a few that I took to remember them buy... before I canceled my account again.
sure sure, I played for 2-3 weeks, but couldn't even get in a FrostFire team... so *shrugs*
it was fun when it first came out, but... not fun playing alone.
(I never did ever see you online, but I keep weird hours so *shrugs)
mainly because I work about 11 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 3-6 weeks at a time
and no... I do NOT get paid by the hour, I get paid by the mile
I just wish I could get a couple questions answered, like what happens to my Supergroup base and SG (Returning accounts can't own an SG, only join), which characters get to stay live and which ones go into deep freeze due to slot limits, and if there's a money cap. I have 100 million Influence on my account (or was it Prestige?) due to sheer stinking luck on the Consignment Store, and I would be...displeased to lose it.
Otherwise, I'll probably be back on Virtue, running around as Dirgesong or KiddVideo.
Not that much of anyone was in it! Spent a lot of hours on the base design, though. XD
I myself will be sticking to Virtue however!
