My father was in the K9 corp during WWII... he told me the whole town turned out when the dog was given to him after the war - it was delivered to him at the train station.

Cool. I grew up near Ft Robinson, in north-west Nebraska, that trained K9's during WWII, as well as being one of the last cavalry posts and horse hospitals. They still do dog training demonstrations up there. It would seem you come by your fur quite naturally . . .

Bloody heck, that reminds me, i was typing to Metassus a while ago, and I was going to dig out one of my old 4-H photo albums so I could scan and post a picture of the Tippy I grew up with. Grandpa's dog originally, but we inherited her with the place when Grandpa and Grandma moved to town. *looks in closet storage* Oh, dear . . . . .

*gasps.... my grandfather had an old yellow hound named Tippy.
