A local officer and family friend was killed in the line of duty today when a suspect he was pursuing shot him in the head. He was flown by life flight to Birmingham, AL, but the wound, while not fatal, has left the officer brain dead. He is an organ donor, and his living will requests that he not be kept alive beyond to allow for his body to save lives even in his death.
In these last moments of life, please offer your prayers to the man and his family. Officer Justin Sollohub will be missed by those who knew him, and he will still be helping others even when he is gone.

Mother Mary, comfort Officer Sollohub's community and his family. As you welcome him among the angels and saints, please give peace to those who he has left behind. May his deed inspire love and mercy, and may his family not become bitter, but forgive the man who took this loving Officer from their midst. May the man who killed Officer Sollohub learn to regret his ways, to repent, and so also be saved by Justin's sacrifice.
