I sort of get why. Ponies are popular and shit. But...seriously? :| It was a scribble I'm almost tempted to delete.

I think it's just people see a character they recognize and +FAV without much thought because "HEY I KNOW THAT AND I LIKE THIS YAY."
They see your personal characters being all... personal, and they can't relate so they don't give it much attention. It sucks, but it just boils down to the fact that people like familiarity.
Also I think the artist will always see their doodles as kind of "throw away" art, but viewers have a less subjective viewpoint on it, so they can see it as more than that. It just happens to be frustrating for artists like you who are so involved with your creations, haha.
