Last week I discovered an inability of my front brakes to provide me with any stopping power whatsoever. What's the first thing you think of when you can't stop? The brake fluid. So I made an attempt to check it. Well the master cylinder/reservoir cover screws stripped. Probably because they haven't been removed since the bike was made in '79. While trying to remove the screws, I damaged the cover, and tore the diaphragm. When I got in to the MC, I saw almost no brake fluid and lots of sludge. Put new fluid in attempted to repair the cover and bleed the old gunk out... Brakes still weren't grabbing. So off to find new brake cylinder. Ended up ordering one online. Found it on E-bay, brand new, $53 bucks won the auction. Fuck yeah. So I have a new brake master. Installed it, put in fresh fluid, still wont stop. While I had the whole thing torn down I decided to take a look at my brake pads... bare metal. FUCK. So I have the pads on the way, and spend money I didn't NEED to spend, but at least I have a new master, reservoir and lever, I'll up pics later.
