Hey all,
Those of you who know me well and know where I live know that my area is under emergency evacuation. v.v' While people have told me that I should get out now, I have made the choice to stay behind. There are two reasons for this,
#1, should things get bad, I have equipment, training, and some experience in emergency preparedness. My resourcefulness and witts should help as well.
#2, This is probably going to upset some people, but My landlord has chosen to stay put. I cant abandon her as I have the only vehicle. I feel that after all she has done for me, it is my duty to protect her during times like this.
Things I have done to prepare:
#1, I have set up the truck with medical supplies, water, and extra gas should it be needed. I also prepared the MFG boat should it be needed to escape or rescue.
#2, The generator was tested three times in the past two days.it starts up within seconds, and can power a nice load. I also have 2 gallons of gas plus the gallon and a half in the tank. that should be good for at least 24 hours of operation. If I use it sparingly, it can last quite a bit. I can also take some of the gas from the truck to extend the period in which the generator will run.
#3, I have my 2-way radio charged with spare battery. I can also charge the radio via generator or even in the truck. Same can be said for the phone.
*note, if you are a HAM operator, you can reach me via echolink on the W2NJR link system. It covers most on NJ so you'll hear reports from all over. My call sign in KC2YWQ. If you hail me, please keep the conversation short in case of an emergency. Thanks.
#4, I have packed my bags in-case I have no choice. Things like flooding, or damage to the house may force me to leave shelter. I have cloths packed, and an emergency back-up location. Thanks again Tony.
I will be checking in every few hours, minus the overnight hours, while I have access to the new and FA is running. I wont lie, I am a lil scared but I feel I am ready should something happen.
To everyone out there, If you need to get out, please get out NOW. I know its a lil hypocritical of me, but should something happen, I am prepared all around. Should something happen, rescuers may not be able to get to you for some time.
To those who are staying, Be careful, and good luck
Aeon/Rascal.

I'll be looking for your posts. Hopefully it's not too bad out there for you. I'm just hoping our tree doesn't fall on the neighbors stuff. <_>
