A friend of mine who was dead-set on the USP ended up buying a SW MP40 instead. Try a few different guns. The USP's pricetag is usually a deterrent to most people.

im for sure dead set on the USP nothing else will satisfy me. i do know i can get a nice version of a colt 45 for the same money that a usp s&w 40 will sell for. but the usp is what i want. and the price is high compared to others (mainly the compact version of it is like $50 more but thats the one i want) but i have heard good things about it. my cousin put a 1000 rounds threw his friends in a day. after it had not been cleaned for a good while (the story behind that was they worked for a sporting goods store and the H&K rep said if you can get that gun to jam ill buy you a new one. and as far as i know he hasn't been bough a new one) so ^^ yeah the price isnt a deterrent for me, just means ill have to save some more money XP

I have nothing to say about .45auto, it's not my thing. And a thousand rounds isn't really anything... it would be if the gun failed, but I expect a hundred large through my Glock dry if it starts in good condition, before anything bigger than an ammunition-based failure.

USP have nicely tuned tolerances...that'll jam if you sneeze in them, fairly common knowledge. For a target pistol? Maybe, I guess, but I never see them. For a carry or bedside gun? Hell no...

i dont dough the glock its just not my gun.

and as for a bedside gun for me would not be a pistol that would be a shotgun you dont have to be a good shot with one of those XP

Oh yes you do! It doesn't immediately turn into a cloud... still gotta aim the (narrow) cone. But I do agree, any long gun is better than a pistol if you have the option.
