TF podcast with Swatcher, and some Irene photos
14 years ago
So I made
maxcarotski go back to our apartment and pick up a webcam so that I could join
swatcher in a Costuming TF podcast panel this previous evening. He took his sweet time getting back, as he couldn't stop taking photographs of the aftermath to Hurricane Irene, but he did get back in time, so as a reward I will post a link to his photos:

After handing over the webcam he collapsed into a sad heap on the floor, exhausted, wherethen I dialed into Skype and took part in Swatcher's panel. It was pretty fun, I must say! I got off to a slow start, but after hearing the other participants discuss their fascination and involvement with costumes/masks I chimed in with my makeup prosthetic and full body costume fancies. Everyone had something to contribute, and I thought it went along very nicely. There are many avenues into this sort of fancy, whether from some deep seated childhood experience to a more recent adult interest, and it can take on a variety of shapes. So far as I'm concerned, so long as the costume and the wearer come together and work off each other, feed and strengthen one another, then that is the best sort of symbiosis. One needs a compelling look and character, and the guts and deep seated need to make it come alive.
Down the line Swatcher will post a shortened version of our discussion (we ran for nearly 90 minutes), and hopefully the casual listener will be informed and see what goes on in a TF mind. Maybe! Hopefully! If not, we still love it!
