Deus Ex Autosave: WILL SCREW YOU OVER.

First off, let me say this game is awesome. Awesome on so many levels.
Now, here's the metaphoracle knife in it's back. It has a tendency to "auto save" over parts you might want to do over for to retry.

Okay, here's the deal. When your chopper is shot down by the chinese, you DO have the choice to save malik, it requires you to kill everything shooting her. It's NOT apparent, and the second you get into that elevator it double saves. As in, you get into the elevator, it auto saves, you get out of the elevator, it immediately autosaves again. This prevents you from reloading your previous save.
I lost 2 hours of my work thanks to this. I'm back in china for the first time, negating all my work back at my apartment.
BE WARNED. AUTOSAVE WILL SCREW YOU. save before every boss fight on your own, do not trust their autosave.

Oh, fuckity fuck-fuck! If only I'd kept that EMP grenade, I could have used it and my heavy rifle to take them down! Damn you, Belltower.

OP
I never bothered with the heavy rifle, I prefer the combat rifle =P Of course I fitted the one I got with buttloads up upgrades.

Well yeah, but fit the heavy with a laser sight, like a hundred capacity upgrades, and a cooling system. That gives you a laser guided heavy rifle with 200 rounds that doesn't jam. Granted, you might need a few recoil augs, but still, 200 rounds. That's less a gun and more of a ranged cheese grater.

I actually save my game about every 5 minutes or so just out of old gaming habit. I recall a time when there was no auto save of any sort of kind, and saving after and before every hard part was paramount. It's now just hard coded into me when playing anything what so ever.

Yep, lesson learned. On a side note this game is so much easier if you get the "sentry jacking" ability along with the "lift heavy objects" ability.

Haha, that's a good set up. I use the silent stepping one with cloak on the side. Can bypass just about everything outside of bosses, and even then the 10mm and the shotgun get their time in the sun with stun gun.

I think a lot of it has to do with whether or not you set off a bunch of alarms on your way through. I made it through the tower to the landing pad in China without setting off the alarms and there was only two massive robot movers around the landing pad. Shut them down, open the landing pad door, and off to Montreal with no problems. It's all about your play style through it. (all comments based off of Medium difficulty run through)

It was later in the game, sorry if I ruined it >_<

*pffft* please, that isn't a spoiler XD. Now the fact that Jensen is actually a mechanical body suit with Grouchy Smurf piloting him from inside his head.....that's a spoiler XD

Take that back...just got into that fight myself, great googly moogly...this is a tough fight, and totally throws my pacification achievement right out the window....thought it might have been already trashed when I set the robots and sentry drones on rampages....but seriously there is no way in hell I'm gonna leave her to die.....
