Mmm, I'd go with the MacBook Pro. ^_^ It's difficult to convey just how much fun it is to have all one's applications, email, images, and suchlike wherever you want to be, whether at a desk, on a bed, or in the bath. (Which is where WiFi comes in ^_^)

You might also weigh up a used/refurbished model, if you're not seeking the latest and greatest - I'm using a 17" PowerBook, the final revision before the Intel migration, and it remains a superb workhorse. Of course, more power is always nice to have, especially with Second Life happy to suck up every last drop of that, or H.264 video compression, for that matter. And Logic and Reason would be quite happy with more power, too.. but it's enough for my simple noodling around.

Be sure to budget well for a con, though - they're definitely not cheap times. I'd recommend trying to make enough time for it that you can spend at least a few days either side for enjoying the area, and visiting friends in the area in a more relaxed setting. Though I suppose it might be a little late to plan for FC2008. But where in the US could there possibly be a better venue for a furcon than the Bay Area, within sniffing distance of San Francisco? ^_^

Yeah. Having a laptop like that would get rid of most of the troubles that I had when schooling this past semester. I have never needed the computer as much as I did in my life.

I basically need something that can handle CS3, so if I can get new or slightly used, I'll be happy.

Hah! I have not much cash to throw around at this moment, but I am guessing that you live in the Bay Area. I have other folks that hail from there, and I myself used to live there when I was just about too young.
