Dude- don't panic. The air between your lung and the wall of your chest will be steadily applying pressure to a part of your abdomen, hence the pain- I'd be 99% sure it's the same thing. It's also not uncommon, but needs to be treated relatively speedily so that it doesn't cause cardio issues down the track. In the interim- well you know what the pain is like, but also causes shortness of breath, so advisable to give up smoking right now!

I believe they literally just put a tube into your chest and suck the air out of that space- no surgery unless they find a hole in your lung which is unlikely given that it's only partially collapsed.

Yeah, the percentage last night was only 30% collapse, but this morning, it had jumped up to 50%, so they stuck a tube in me. It hurts like hell, but I know why it's there and I know it's supposed to be a good thing. Lol
