Still Playing With Princess Dolls?

It's been too long since I posted a journal about how I was confused about switching names between my Siberians. X3 They're both sweet boys and we have their names down by now. ::chuckles:: But since I don't have anything really "art" or "animal" or "meme" related of some kind... gonna try something else. It's something I've been musing on for a couple of weeks...
The Disney Store began releasing the Disney Princess Designer dolls a few weeks ago for $60 each. The 10 Disney Princesses are fancied up into limited editions of 4000 to 8000, depending on the doll, from August 22nd to October 24th every Monday and sold to adult collectors. Cinderella, Ariel, and Belle have been released so far, and there's no hope of pre-ordering the doll you're really after. You won't know who is next until the next week, although if you go to the Disney Store Facebook you'll get a hint the day before. I have a hunch that Rapunzel will be released October 3rd following the inaguration in England when she's officially accepted in the Princess roster.
Ariel sold out quickly, lasting about 6 days on the Disney Store website before Belle became available (I read somewhere that everyone wanted Ariel the most, and she's selling for crazy amounts on eBay), and I noticed Cinderella sold out this morning after 2 weeks. It makes me wonder, who is the most desired Princess in this collection? And who will be the least desired? And how long will they remain on the shelves? I think I'll chronicle the collection's process for a while and see how it goes, because I'm honestly curious.
August 22nd: Cinderella from Cinderella (1950)-- collection of 8000, SOLD OUT 9/6/11 (about 2 weeks)
August 29th: Ariel from The Little Mermaid (1989)-- collection of 8000, SOLD OUT 9/5/11 (6 days or less)
September 5th: Belle from Beauty and the Beast (1991)-- collection of 8000, SOLD OUT 9/6/11 (less than 48 hours)
September 12th: Mulan from Mulan (1998)-- collection of 6000, SOLD OUT (1/2 a day at least)
September 19th: Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)-- collection of 6000, SOLD OUT (30 MINUTES OR LESS)
October 17th/18th: ALL SOLD OUT (In how long? WHO KNOWS?!!! LOL)
Aurora from Sleeping Beauty (1959)-- collection of 4000
Jasmine from Aladdin (1992)-- collection of 6000
Pocahontas from Pocahontas (1995)-- collection of 4000
Tiana from The Princess and the Frog (2009)-- collection of 4000
Rapunzel from Tangled (2010)-- collection of 6000
Sept 7th update: Holy crap, Belle sold out already?!! She was listed a day and a half, maybe, and when I went to the Disney Store website it said she was sold out! I love Belle, really I do... I could dress up as her because she's the only brunette in the bunch. ... And I was disappointed that I didn't like her Designer doll the best. I don't like the major beehive look and the dress... the top half's nice. ¬¬ That's all I'm saying. ... Also, apparently Mulan is the next Princess to be released; there are some pre-orders going on on eBay for this following Monday. I'm not sure where they're getting this info, but I want it. X3
Sept 12th update: I guess collectors are aware that they need to act fast; Mulan was listed as sold out online by the time I came home this afternoon at 5:20pm. I had actually gone to a Disney Store, opened at 11:00am with about 20 dolls, and by the time I got there at 11:45ish there were only two left. Too bad.
Sept 19th update: OK, so Snow White came out this morning... I guess everyone woke up early or stayed up late (depending on your location) to snag her and SHE'S ALREADY SOLD OUT ONLINE. Within like 30 minutes! I know 'cuz I woke up to see! I won't be going to the store this week to see how quickly she sells out there, but it seems pretty obvious now. Only 5 Princess remain: Aurora, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Tiana, and Rapunzel. I imagine they'll sell out just as quickly, too.
September 24th Update: Well, the Disney Store has listened to our pleas and here's the scoop: they're no longer releasing a new doll each week. Instead, the remaining 5 dolls will be released on one day, October 17th in the Disney Store, and then online October 18th, limiting 1 doll per Princess per customer. We're getting down to the 4000 limit here, so they're really trying to please us. Saves some of us from waking up at 3:00am, too.
October 17th Update: After a few long weeks the day finally came. My parents worried that if I went alone I would get in a bad situation, something of a mob scene resembling 5am on Black Friday, so I got my cousin to go with me to the Disney Store. We got there at 8:00 (their time) just as the mall doors were opening, with people standing outside. Some people brought their kids along, some still in their PJs. Nice parenting. All was calm, no one was throwing a hissy fit while waiting for the two hours. We were about the 38th in line and we knew how many of each doll was going to be handed out before they passed out the ticket vouchers (42 of Jasmine, 38 of Rapunzel, 24 of Pocahontas and Tiana, and 23 of Aurora). Most folks were getting all 5, so by the time it got to us, I got the last Rapunzel and a Jasmine. Then when the store opened we waited 30 minutes to trade the vouchers for the dolls. Those who didn't get the dolls they wanted were handed a paper telling when the online store will start selling tomorrow. Meanwhile, 2 and a half hours in line... I'm tired. X3
October 18th Update: It seems being at the store was less of a hassle than it was online. As soon as the dolls became available my computer couldn't load fast enough. I had the Disney Store app on my iTouch and did much better progress with that, getting the other three dolls in the cart quickly, but problems with logging in and getting to the check-out point and the website itself having issues... well, now they're all sold out.
Conclusion: So, who is the most desired Princess in this lot? As the availability of the dolls lessened with each week it would seem like it's Snow White, but I think it was just more people became aware that they were out there and wanted to make a quick buck on eBay, so I can't say the first Princess is the favorite. As far as I can see it's Ariel who is the most sought after, as people are paying three to four hundred dollars to purchase one in an auction. And the least sought after? Well with the last of the dolls released and everyone's trying to get one I can't judge the last group, so I'll have to judge from the first five, and from them... I'm probably going to say Mulan. Out of all the bundled groups of two or more dolls Mulan has been featured in the most. She also had the cheapest "Buy-It-Now" I've seen out of all the dolls, at about $100.
So, that's my two cents on the Disney Princess Designer Collection as of right now. I'll try to get a new journal soon to sit around on the main page instead of this. X3
