If our store dont do well enough with sales soon, area manager is gonna be replacing us with "sales people instead of gamers". It being a game store while also needing to make money, the issue is very *waggles hand* iffy.
It dont help that retail everywhere is doing bad, what with the economy over in the US being what it is has made some Australians more wallet tight.
I just hate how much its changed since I first started there, carefee, easy going. Now its all OMG WE NEEDA GET MORE PRE-ORDERS, SELL PRE-OWNED, ADD ONS, WARRANTIES, GET MORE TRADE-INS blah blah blah!
If we dont do good we are told to do better. HOW THE FUCK AM I SPOSED TO DO THAT WITH AN EMPTY STORE?!
Also told to go converse with customers, yes I say "Hi can I help you?" But now they want us to strike up a conversation with them! Sure its fine with people who want to but most of the times they are there to shop and DONT WANNA BE HARRASSED! FUCK!
Anyways I'm still feeling a bit agro with how the staff meeting went last night and how I was talked to afterwards, apperantly I give off the impression that I dont like working there and that I only go to get paid...god..
That was like a knife in the chest.
Dammit I told myself I wasnt gonna rant..sorry.
Gonna keep my chin up! STIFF UPPER LIP as my gran daddy always says!

Kind of makes me glad I didn't end up getting a job at GAME.
There's only so much anyone can do when it comes to selling stuff, and like you said, it's impossible to drive sales up when no customers are even entering the store.
Just a little bit at a time so he/she doesn't notice.
