To Those Who Say "DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T LOOK AT IT"

DISCLAIMER: This is not about MLP or anything like that. This journal is merely a statement towards those who yell out "dont like dont look". This is by no means intended to be threatening or soap-boxy, merely a thought with a modern example and application of the situation designed to inspire discussion and open thought.
With that in mind:
normally I'm in agreement with this line of thought, especially since it's a freedom of expression thing. However due to a recent show that has exploded in popularity EVERYWHERE, I've actually had to take a step back and look at the other side.
Now on the one hand, I'm a full supporter of the Constitution and the rights we're granted as Americans, so naturally when the hotbed issues come up of what's agreeable to post and what isn't I have to take it with a grain of salt.
On the other hand though, I also know that in order to keep sites like this alive, there has to be an aggreable policy dictating what is acceptable and what isnt based on statutes and regulations within the respective sectors it falls under. At the same time a lot of th upload policy gets decided over time by the users, who through trouble tickets, forum usage, and general posting in general, ends up directing the flow of uploading and posting to a generalized set of guildelines and policies.
At least that's how it makes sense to me
Now onto the meat and potatoes of this thing. Back and forth it gets shouted when a policy changes or something is removed from the AUP and TOS, usually by the people that are upset that said subject is removed. "DON'T LOOK THEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT" while here on FA that may work fine sometimes, but you go to other sites and type in a search word like "Horse" and jesus-tapdancing-christ it's like 5 pages of MLP related stuff before you even get to something remotely related to equine or horse related art anymore. I've lost track of the number of times I've gone to e621 and the first 2 or three pages are nothing but MLP related before you get to anything else remotely furry.
Now I've made no attempt to hide my distaste for the relation of myself to the MLP explosion, yes I've seen the show, ubt I am in now way shape or form a "BRONY" yes the show is cute, but that's where my appreciation of it stops, it's not the greatest thing since sliced bread, it's not the savior of mankind, it's a freaking show, end of story.
A lot of people think that just because my character is a horse, that I obviously love the show, which is far from the truth, but this is all merely a bullet point in what I'm saying here. You can say "DON'T LIKE DON'T LOOK" all you want, but when I, and many others have to sift through page after page of something we don't care for to get to something that we do, then where do you draw the line?
So yes I have no choice but to look, becuase I have to go through page after page of the same carp in order to find anyhting like what i'm looking for.

...just sayin'....
This would solve everything in this whole class of problems, not just this one specifically, and still allow people to police themselves without a top-down enforcement of taste/distaste.
Also, not liking something is not the same as it being horrifically offensive. If there were page after page of baby snuff pics, you would be valid in protesting it, but simply not liking the subject of peoples art is not a valid reason. I dislike 95% of the stuff that gets posted around here, but I'm here for the 5% I like.
In the same vein, while I can understand how irritating it is to try and find something horse based on places like e621, you will also have to suffer through the inevitable tide of stuff you don't like (in this case MLP). Heck, I don't like several characters/users of this site, but I have to slog through their submissions before I find something else that's the same species/genre of art or something. I live with it, though. That's life.
It's like going to the food court, then having a fit because a restaurant you don't like is beside the one you do. I don't think the "Don't like don't look" is more "Don't like, don't give it any mind". Sure, you might have to look at it, but that doesn't mean you have to voice a complaint.
Just so everybody know, this is directed at anybody in particular, so much as generalized towards people who have a hissy fit over stuff they don't like.
I will say though that the amount of MLP art here is -dwarfed- by the amount of it everywhere else. Can't go to lulz, /v/, or /co/ without 3 MLP generals, TGFB got the right idea and made a separate board for it, same with e621. Me? As you can guess I'm more into the music aspect of the show, it's got a decent soundtrack, and people have made some amazing songs using samples from the show. (examples here and here)
