9-11. The US. And the rest of the world.
9/11 was a horrendous tragedy. Both conspiracy theorists and normal people people can agree on this.
Many many people died, and in the short time after, Americans as a whole were more united than they had been in a long while.
The country stood together and supported one another.
10 Years later, things are not quite what they used to be, with the weakening economy (which is worldwide by the way. I'm looking at YOU, people who like to act and talk about it as though it's just the US having issues.), with troops spread across the world (Because the US has the manpower to spare the troops the other countries won't commit).
But things are similar in a sense. People are still unified, but people are also still separate. People are still against Muslims, and though in a much lesser extent that it used to be, it's horrible to see.
A community center was/is/has been built, not too far from 'Ground Zero'. It's purpose was to have an activity center for all those in the area, regardless of religion, or race. Sounds good right? It is. But people have latched onto the fact that MUSLIMS are the ones wanting to build it. It's a bit sad really.
But I digress. 10 years later, we're still united as a people. We're caring less and less for the ridiculous bi-partisan government that holds the process of democracy back, each side having their own agenda behind EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF LEGISLATURE that is proposed, passed, or denied.
We as a people are strong. We always have been, and always will be. Let us not forget those who died, but use them as an inspiration to remain united.
(I have to also ask that anyone who feels like bashing the US kindly keep their mouth shut. This is about the PEOPLE of america. Not the economy, not our government, not our wars. I'm tired of people being disrespectful and bashing on Americans for being 'egotistical' and using this as a way to say that the US is a great country. Clearly those people are a bit blind, as every journal I've seen, and EVERY American I know, is talking about the PEOPLE.)
