Finally in Cananadaland~
The trip was kinda hectic.
Woke early on Saturday (australian time) and double and triple checked I had everything. Gave the dogs a last cuddling and petting and farewell (I feel so guilty about leaving them behind. ;3; ) before bundling into the car for Sydney.
Wandered around Sydney with the folks, anxious and excited, but trying to keep it under control. Wandered around dahling harbor and the opera house, had some indian, then went to the hotel the folks were staying at overnight.
Watched discovery channel (Holy crap it's gone down hill..) until it was time to go, folks arguing immensely over how I should get to the airport (Even when I'd said I knew how to get there, and how I intended to.(It's not the first time I've been international, guys, thank you. >:C )) Wandered down to the station, and said goodbye to the folks. Mom was teary, but kept her composure, which I was thankful for, then caught the train and headed to the airport.
Baggage was unhelpful, in that they wanted to go everywhere except the direction I was walking. >:C Got to the desk and had to wait for the workers to get there for assigning tickets. Found out I hadn't goten an ETSA visa or something, for America (Which is ridiculous, because I was in transit. Why do I need a visa?) Still, paid 14 bucks so I could catch my connecting flight, got cleared and went through.
The planetrip was uneventful, watched X-man Begins: first class. Awesome flick. and somehow managed to catch about an hours sleep before getting into HongKong.
The airport there was monstrous. 530 gates. and it was a 6 hour stop over. Thankfully, they had free internet kiosks, which I made liberal use of. Inspected duty free, eyed their food stores. Macdonald's cheese burgers were 16 bucks ...........chinese, each. (about 2 bucks australian) But it still threw me for a loop.
The plane to Chicago was horrible. I say that because I was sat next to some crazy dude who was fawning over a half-ton of news papers for pictures of ladies and got frustrated if for several pages in a row he couldn't find one. My seat-back TV thingy froze and received no sound, whic left me pretty much with nothing to do but try to sleep for 15 hours. c.c
We got into chicago about a half hour early, which I was thankful for. Customs took ages, and I made it to the gate with a half hour to spare (Which I wouldn't have if not for awesome pilot.)
Hopped on the tiny little plane to Ottawa, sitting accross from a dude and his family.
We chatted for a while, he gave me a contact for someone working in the massage industry over here, and his own number, in case I wanted some work in construction.
All in all, a rather fortuitous encounter, I think.
In canada, went through easy enough, until it came time for baggage claim. I knew the trip had gone much smoother than it should have, (all things considered) and I knew that the good fortune on the plane earlier must have been the balance for the bad on the one before it. I was expecting something to happen, and it did. >:C One of my bags, namely, the one that had all my normal clothing and electronic cables got held up and left in chicago.
So I reported it, and went through to immigration, got my visa for the full 2 years and named the awesome customs chick there my favourite person on the planet at that point. Went out at last to hunt for Kyt.
In not seeing him outside the immediate exit area, I opted to call him. ..No answer. Nutbunnies. I opted to look around for somewhere to break a note or coin so I could try the house phone. Found Kyt and his roomie waiting a ways futher though, and ambushed. :D
Hugs exchanged, and wandering ensued out to the taxi bay, we dropped off my luggage at the appartment, and went out for nom. The burger place we went to is neat, and their serving sizes are ridiculous. ;A;
Got back home, and crashed. X3 didn't sleep as long as I expected, but that's probably for excitement, more than anything else.
Now I'm up, waiting a call from the airport about delivery of my poor lost bag, and chilling in my new home country. :3
S'good to finally be here.

It's always the one with the clothes in it that they leave behind and throw in storage forever for whatever reason. :P
Still, nice to hear that things went otherwise well and your getting settled. :3
BECAUSE

But, glad ya had a safeish trip. :D What with the lost bag. Hope it gets to you soon!
Also, hope you enjoy North America!
I (somehow) lost track of time, so I didn't get to say goodbye to you before you left! I feel so bad. *apology cake* I also need to note you for your email; I have an old one in my inbox, not sure if you still have it.. and besides, I use a different email now, so you won't have THAT.
I would've gone nuts if I had to go through all that. Where there any you-know-whats perched on the plane wings? >:D
The usual gang up here says hello. :3
