So I was talking to  Drayk and  Argon about some of the weird species we've seen around FA and I remembered a species I'd made forever ago but never did anything with... So I decided to finish it up a bit and put it to paper... maybe i'll get a comm of it someday lol

Species:

Feral and anthro forms: kind of a lizard mammal cross.... lilthe like a cat they had a spinal ridge that would lift when startled... their coloring would be either lizard like or feline like, never a blend, and they were always fur covered, with spines on the end of their tails... there claws are not retractable and are more reptilian in form. Males have larger spinal ridges, with the females ridges begin smaller but they make up for it with a venomous bite.

they are warm blooded so they can have sustained speed for a while, but they have to eat more... their feral forms are on the smaller cat side... so Serval to maybe cheetah, not the most durable. the venom helps females, but the males rely on the size of the spines to intimidate... larger the spine, more dominate male. bigger buffer male, larger the spines...

There are 3 different types, arid, arctic, and jungle... each having representative color patterns... with the new mutation of an aquatic form. the new mutation are thought of as demons, the legend being a sailor of this species made a packed with a sea witch so he wouldn't' die when his ship sank and he was turned into the aquatic form.

Desert have arid patterns, tans and browns... with the occasional bright orange and black like the hila monster coloring, jungle would be brightly colored for lizard coloring, or spotted cat coloring, arctic are always feline in color, since few lizards live in the cold... blue greys and whites for winter coat, tans for summer coat. Jungle types can occasionally be chameleons in color but it's rare. No "powers" beyond that though for any of the forms. The aquatic are the interesting ones... they lost their fur so you can see scaling mixed with mammalian skin, and their tail spines are webbed for aid in swimming, as are their hands and feet. The scales might be iridescent or brightly colored, but the mammalian skin is always darker grey or blue on top, with a white underside.

Anthro only: Shirts are a problem do to the spinal spines laying flat most of the time and rising when angered or threatened shirts are a problem. Most of this species wear a specialized harness that shirts are made to snap into the harness leaving a gap in the back so the raising of the spines won't rip the fabric.

social standing is that desert, jungle and arctic are all considered equal to each other, but it is currently taboo to breed with another regional type... so you'll rarely see a desert color with an arctic or jungle... and aquatic are outcast... kinda like the irish imigration, most settlements won't hire aquatics for anything other than the fishing or sailing trades. There are those that do break the "code" but they are usually shunned... This stemmed from the areas they evolved in not butting up very often, save for desert and jungle... having caused territorial conflict.

desert type are also larger, more muscular, or faster since there is less places to hide.... jungle much more lilthe and graceful, arctic are shorter and usually thicker in build, they can also make due on less food.
