Playstation Network's Terms of Service update...
So, Sony updated their Terms of service for the Playstation Network recently. The update included a "class action waiver," meaning you agree to waive your right to file or participate in a class action lawsuit against Sony for anything related to PSN.
Needless to say, there's been a lot of complaints about this as well as threats to boycott PSN. I will now add my two cents to the matter.
I say to all the people who are complaining and threatening these boycotts: SHUT THE FUCK UP, SIT YOUR ASS DOWN, AND PLAY THE GODDAMN VIDEO GAMES.
Seriously, you're complaining about this because you don't know jack shit about the issue. It's not something worth complaining about, or even a boycott, because this waiver will not hold up in court.
A corporation cannot force you to waive your right to a lawsuit of any type in order to use their services. It's a violation of a number of laws, not to mention the friggin' Constitution. They can require you to attempt finding a solution through arbitration or mediation before resorting to a lawsuit, but an outright block on filing lawsuits is not allowed.
This matter will go away the moment somebody with the time and knowledge decides to challenge it. So what if that might not happen until Sony fucks up again? It's not worth wasting your time bitching about.
Not to mention Sony fucked themselves over with this since they only blocked class action lawsuits and 9 times out of 10 one class action lawsuit is less damaging than 5,000 individual lawsuits.
Not to mention you can opt out of the class action lawsuit ban.

Let's play.
And the paperwork they signed when they got cable/satellite. Or maybe their internet.
And their bank may have pegged them with it.
Class action waivers and mandatory arbitration are the new black, folks. They haven't been truly challenged in court yet, and they'll crumble as soon as they are. Stop letting the media get your panties in a twist.
Agreements that forbid one from pursuing a lawsuit in the absence of a failed arbitration effort, however, have been upheld by the Supreme Court in the past.
