I'll never understand why this NG of My Little Pony is so damned popular. To me, it doesn't really stand out in any way. And what with the way I see some people behave, it's like this show is turning some into weird, fanatical zealots. (As though it were some kind of shock religion.) And the hard core fans act like they're converting people the same way cultist missionaries would try. (I'm not gonna exaggerate something this ridiculous.)

I kinda wish people would tone it down a little. I can respect that people like this show, even to a great extent, but it didn't become what it is now because it was a good show. It's because people are turning it into a viral meme of sorts. It's the most aggressive case of bandwagon syndrome. :\

I joked and said how it has some kind of subconscious trigger and makes people see something that isn't there. But with all the creepers and dilutional folks out there, it almost seems like a plausible idea =s These people are pretty much weeaboos dressed as a pony and just link to god who knows how many clips from the show on Youtub or the many, many, MANY drawings of the characters. UGH. I'm really sick of the show. It makes me want to rally people to counter some of the inevitable spam of pony/brony submissions on the servers with fanart from some other cartoon like Johnny Quest or some other old show~

Yeah, the pony fandom has GOT to be the loudest one out there now =/ Most infectious too. I've watched at least five or so episodes, and I just don't see what these people see I guess... The animation can be fluid (BETTER be since it is done in Flash), but looks gummy too... Voice acting isn't bad, but a lot of them do sound kind of samely if it wasn't for one or two of them having an accent. *shrugs* The upside to all the pony crap is some of the Youtube Poops out there can be pretty amusing (Krobo's 'Friendship is Gic' seems to be a really big hit. ...at least for the song edit portion...). I think people have the right to not like the banner (as even if you don't hate the show and nothing it, it's understandable to be sick of seeing it every friggin where), but people have to chill with the death threats to the artist who made it too. I think everyone needs to calm down, and a better, non-overblown kiddy show themed banner should be put up (doubt that'll happen, so, Stlyish script is GO.).

Been playing on  pinko's server right now with enemies off (....even though I've run into zombies in the mineshaft I was in, heard some over the lake, and passing a mountain I've heard skeletons D= ). I think the only one I'm interested in mostly is Enderman. Wanna see how that guy ticks, maybe see if he can climb inside a single square fort if you look at him, you know?

Enderman is pretty cool, although I try not to piss them off and just walk by them usually. :D

I don't think I could play with monsters off really, it adds too much to exploring caves when you have to constantly be on the lookout for creepers and skeletons. Or in the mines, blue spiders which have a tendency to drop down on me from the ceiling due to spider's weird pathing.

I'll admit I'm sort of a coward now (thanks to Notch making enemy swipes one click only instead of being able to hold down the button and hammer at them like you could breaking dirt). But we sort of need it off since a lot of the areas we are building in aren't fully lit and we want a better chance of setting the server up with some safe areas before we turn the monsters on. I just hope we don't turn on monsters and have creepers blow up important places or make the bridge areas perfect places for spiders top off of and onto people down below =<

Hahahaha, I also never liked walking around caves with monsters on. I don't like the idea of having my loot being lost or freaking out and trying to stab at a zombie and crashing the game. ....usually when that happens (which is often since my computer sucks at RAM), and I'm under ground, I spawn in the wall or the floor and die anyways =c Low-combat works well on my computer so I'm able to enjoy the no-monsters thing right now XD

Funny thing about that, I always used rapid clicks instead of holding it down for fighting anyways, so I never noticed the change. I can understand wanting them off for infrastructure though, I was doing a whole city thing and so I was working on a huge road. Of course, since it was out in the open, there was no way for me to keep monsters away really, unless I just put torches up EVERYWHERE.

Oddly enough, I don't tend to lose my stuff unless I fall in lava. Lava is a dick. :c But I can imagine that having a comp that doesn't like minecraft too much might make combat a little more painful than it should be.

Torches are great for keeping most monsters away, but Creepers (and probably Endermen) aren't afraid of the light. Sometimes I wish there was a better way to hold off mobs instead of torches. Sometimes it ruins places when it's like, 50 acres of torches dotting the land =/ It just looks tacky. I wish the fencing can act as a security gate and keep things out that way or something...

Oh I've lost stuff before. Seems dropped things only last so long, and if you die and spawn miles from your dead-point, you'll pretty much never see your stuff~ I can understand why folks use this one mod that like, lets you drop a chest with your stuff in it where you die. Saves your things a lot better that way.

I would be too fat to fly, and on many days, too fat to even walk. But you know, the ponies are so damn nice and dumb, I could just say there was a party in my tummy and open up wide for them to walk riiiiiight in~ Season 1, lardy gryph. Season 2, who knows!

I wouldn't be shown too often... Maybe first few episodes back to back for sure, each time getting fatter... But after a while, I'd fill and grow too big to move and wouldn't have a chance to snatch any stray ponies for a few episodes... Eventually though, I'd figure out how to get them to come to me. By the time the ponies figure out I had been eating everyone I'll already have the title of Hotel Gryphat; ponies check in, but they wind up as blubber~

People are getting into MLP now because the new series is actually good, funny and has parts that appeal to older generations - it's quite similar in humour to the cartoons of the late 90s and early 2000s - the cartoons I grew up with, which is why it appeals to me. The reason things like Thundercats or GI Joe or whatever are not is because the remakes were rubbish, and half the people on this site are too young to remember the original shows anyway.

And for goodness sake, how is this any different to Pokémon or Digimon or any other kids show that seems rampant in the furry fandom? Is it because they're not considered "girly"? Is it because they promote kicking the shit out of each other rather than love and acceptance of all things?

Also, there is a gryphon in MLP, she's called Gilda. She's a bit of a dick.

Shippo made me watch roughly 20 episodes when I visited him last month.
I didn't see any of this humor similar to the old cartoons myself.

I mean, it wasn't complete shit like a lot of cartoons, but it wasn't anything special, I don't get the rabid fandom over it either.

Chowder/Flapjack/Adventure Time/Regular Show are all much better to me, imo.

Regular Show I do like, Adventure Time is okay but I never actually found it that funny. The others two I don't really like so much, probably because of their occasional reliance on crude humour.

Woah there, back up Kimosabe... What show did you watch? Yeah, it's a show I can watch and not rage at, and it's something where if I had a little meatbag I would let them watch it too. Sharing is caring, just be yourself, don't be afraid of the dark, always ask for help... These are morals that are shown to kids to help them think about stuff like that. This isn't like Pepper Ann, Animaniacs or Freakazoid where both kids and adults can enjoy it. I've yet to see enough of the show to convince me that MLP can even be on par with the 90's shows that did it right. Decent show for kids, why-the-hell-are-you-watching-it for adults. And as for Thundercats or GI Joe remakes being rubbish, I have to half agree. Thundercats are assholes, the myth of technology is bull hockey when Liono was TINKERING with the crap, and the voice acting is questionable. It had its cool moments, but the only thing that makes me really impressed is Liono's dad (the king or whatever) was voiced by THE Liono from the older cartoon. I thought that was pretty bad ass (his character was pretty retarded too, almost like he had the same mind set from the old cartoon!). If you don't think of the new Thundercats being a reboot from the old one, it's able to pass as a halfway decent show. Fan goggles activated, and it just brings out a looooot of problems with it~ GI Joe though? Ninja doin' ninja stuff, global terrorism, impossible sciency stuff threatening the free world, having a team member killed (off screen, but still), AND still keeping some of the dorky stuff (like how the Cobra soldiers can't shoot worth crap and the romaticy stuff between the Baroness and Destro)... I think it held up good, looked good, the animation flowed well, and the voice acting was well done. NO ONE cared to watch it. Now when you mention GI Joe to people, they think "PORK CHOP SANDWICHES!"

Dude, it's not just the furry fandom. MLP has one hell of a vocal fanbase and it is EVERYWHERE. Non-furries are going on and on about it as well, making it much larger then just being a furry fandom-liked thing. And unfortunately, MLP probably has an even higher/louder fanbase in the furry fandom then Pokemon and Digimon combined. It doesn't matter if it's "girly" or not. Okay, remember Lazy Town? Weird uncanny valley puppets, questionable ONLY human girl running around town, hilarious sporty "super hero" flipping around, and a villain who looks really friggin weird with all the plasticy looking prosthetics on him. That show became hyped up thanks to how weird it was and creepers fawned over the little pink haired girl. Was the show bad? ....it wasn't good, but it wasn't too bad. The show tried to get kids up and be active while trying to teach some lesson-of-the-day to them. Standard show equation for little kids. I'm sure people were sick and TIRED of that show being so hyped up by the crazy fans. Now, take that hype and hit it with a nuke. Instead of it dying, it has now mutated into a thirty story tall atomic pony monster that's stomping into anything and everything and nays with the force that is greater then the whining of a hundred thousand Hetelia and Home Stuck fans put together. There literally is no escape from MLP fans. They're in the furry fandom, they're in normal forums, they're on Tumblr, they're on Facebook, they're everywhere. It's just crazy =s

I like that episode. I share the same feelings with Gilda. Those ponies were SO lame and uncool~ I don't share the same thoughts on Rainbow Dash though. Rainbow Dash seems cool, but that's just because her character got the left over 'tude injections from when Sonic got his change back in 1998~

But there are little callouts to a more adult audience throughout, just off the top of my head I can recall references to Ernst Hemmingway, Ghostbusters, the Benny Hill Show several mentions of alcohol, and even previous My Little Pony cartoons from decades gone - all of which would be totally over the head of the target audience. While MLP may not have the same level of adult humour as Animaniacs and Freakazoid, it also doesn't depend on zany offbeat humour. You can get away with a character doing or saying something abnormal in those shows, less so in MLP.

I was more referring to shows like the Powerpuff Girls (which was made by the same person as MLP), Dexter's Laboratory and other such shows that had a consistent plot and continuity and yet could still appeal to an adult audience.

And yeah, Pokémon and Digimon isn't just in the furry fandom either. They're everywhere too, or at least in the circles I hang around with anyway. While MLP may be a little more overpowering at the moment, that's probably just because it's a new show - there's still jokes and fun to be had with it that hasn't happened before - and christ the second series just started, of course there'll be an onslaught of stuff now.

As for the ponies - their looks and personalities are all based on the first and third generation My Little Pony toys and cartoons. They're all based off characters made decades before.

Also the name of your journal made me chuckle, Steven Magnet is the fandom name for a minor character in the second ever episode of MLP

I'm sure there were throwbacks to the older shows (which would have went over my head as I didn't watch the 80's one nor the remake that came before this one), but I've seen a good number of episodes, and haven't seen the adult appeal to them at all. Lauren Faust is a pretty cool chick and has slipped in some adult humor with other shows (Foster's Home and Power Puff Girls), but still, when people try to say that this new MLP is on par with the 90's toons that were big, I just don't see it at all. I don't really get the same feel with her other works compared to this one. I will say this though, I'm pretty sure her work on the show is why it's better then most other kids shows and is why I don't hate it. .....but man, still don't see why it's so dang crazy everywhere =s

Oh for sure the freshness of the show is one of the reasons why the popularity is so high, but like I said earlier, the newer Transformers had come out and was a huge hit but quickly died down. I'm afraid season 2 will only generate an even larger following and will make the hype even larger =s My only hope is once the story of Avatar (forgot the name of it, the one that takes place so many years after The Last Airbender) comes out, it'll drive off the MLP fans and even things out some.

I got the title from the MLP Youtube Poop that was done by Krobo. It's not as good as Friendship is Gic, but still good. ...I'm sure you've run across Friendship is Gic at one point. There was a Pinkie Pie cupcake song he mixed up in the vid, but somehow only THAT got passed around, not the whole episode. I'll also leave this [TIME WARP] here. Oh there's tons of fan-named ponies! As well as Derpy you've got Doctor Whooves (a pony that looks like David Tennant and has an hourglass cutie mark), Lyra and Bonbon (a lyre and sweets, respectively), DJ Pon3 (a play on Deadmau5), Carrot Top (orange/red hair, carrot cutie mark) and a few others.

No, I've not heard of that video, I'll have to track it down. And also that picture is freaky, the old pony designs are pretty terrifying, Faust's redesigns is just one of many things to make the show much more accessible, methinks.

WHAAAAT?! LOL, I find it the other way around. Old pony designs seem more like ponies to me. The new gen ones are alright, but their muzzles are soooooo tiny~ They're pretty much Power Puff Ponies =B It's still cutesy so it works though ^^

The old ones still look freaky though, if anything you don't want a pink sparkling pony to look realistic! The creep factor was only made worse with the fact that the older ponies acted like humans - walking on two legs, eating human food and such. D:

Some of the jokes work, and I am surprised that the creator has seen people noticing Ditzy Doo and has liked the attention "Derpy Hooves" has gotten, even to the point where she inserted the fan-loved character in a few more episodes. Does the show live up to the monstrous hype that is put out there by the fans? Heck no. 'Nother prime example of shows that get hype but never did before for some reason, Dr. Who. HUGE ass following after the 10th and 11th Doctors came in. ....you can poll the whole lot of folks who got into it if they even bothered to look at the older Doctors or listen to the audio dramas and they will say they haven't. The guy has been going thought time and space since the 60's and as he's running out of forms he's just NOW getting attention~ I will never understand how this kind of stuff happens.

*Chuckles* Well with Doctor Who I've followed it since I was a kid and am especially fond of the episodes with the Fourth Doctor. But yeah...the new episodes, from 2005 onwards has brought in a much bigger following then the orginal 60s, 70s, 80s, and early 90s versions...

I've heard about Doctor Who for aaaaages. I remember back when it finally came to the Sci-Fi channel (before SYFI) I wanted to catch that 9th's debut and follow the stories on TV, but at that point I didn't have cable anymore and missed it =/ I know a lot of Doctor Who is on Netflix now and I could catch up, but I don't think I could watch -all- of it. There's just... SO MUCH! XD

i agree 110% with you dude like i cant stand MLP myself but really i didnt have any problem with the banner what so ever when its supposed to be a joke but i guess some people dont have humor for anything it seems T_T

I think the thing that really bugged me about the banner (nixing the fact it'll be up a week and will increase pony pictures on the server like crazy) was the artist didn't make the 'denial is magic' part all bright and colorful. They used the caramel and brown tones of Fender. ....it makes the bright, kiddy friendly theme look more mud-washed... I had to Stilysh it out with a different banner. Oh, the thing wasn't supposed to be a joke. I wouldn't be surprised if a good 60% or so of folks on here (admins most deff.) are MLP fans. It'll be up for a week~
