Yeah, I figured after I saw your latest journal after clicking onto your page.
I'm not sure how it would be particularly offensive, though, even if you don't like it. XD; When I see people enthusing about things I'm not a fan of, I just go WHATEVS and click away.
Oh, yeah. It's really stupid when people turn a fandom interest into a religion.
I mean, I won't lie, I'm glad all of my friends like the show too. XD But I more see it as...we all like it becuase we share similar values about our entertainment, not because we're superior to everyone else.
No, I was just using religion as an example too. I didn't mean literally that either. XD
People who take things too far in either direction (loving or hating) are idiots, period. Hell, being obsessed =/= shoving it down other people's throats.
And I would call myself a brony, but only because, to me, that term means "fan of the show". (Also, I already liked to use the word "bro", so it works.) But I have nothing to do with the fandom (aside from very occasionally skimming the fansites for legitimate news).
I actually find it really artistic. It's heavily stylized, yes, but the ponies are actually basically drawn -- and move -- like real horses most of the time. They also have expressions based off how actual faces work (without resorting to overly-simplified chibified anime faces), which I respect.
But honestly, aside from the artsy-ness, I watch it for the characters and dialogue. I think it's well-written, and the characters are consistent and interact with each other interestingly. (However, I'm...rather focused on characters in general. I'm definitely obsessive about my own. XD; And good characters is almost always a requirement for things I like.)
It's also one of those things that I probably wouldn't have been able to guess I would like so much until I actually watched it. Because yeah, it does seem like it's too girly or whatever.

ANYWAY. Thanks for being decent about this.
IT WAS FUNNY, OKAY? XD
I guess it says a lot for me when my response was, "OMG I KNOW. :D"
Yup. ADULTS.
