Ugh, I can not express the anger that I feel every time I stumble across a fur on IMVU that I recognize as being a popular fur artist's character, and the dumbfounded faces I get when I explain to the person wearing it or the person who recreated it that it's wrong.
Some idiots have even tried to tell me it's no different than fan art.

Uh... You're running around in someone else's design.. You are selling someone else's design.. People are paying you for someone else;s design.. You are paying for someone else's design..
I fail to see how you could possibly think any part of that is okay.

You see, the difference between what you're doing and fanart, is fanart is something you make as sort of a gift, people do not pay you for it, people can not wear it.

The thing with recreating someone else's fursona to wear on their 3D avatar is, the moment you put on that furset that was created to look like someone else's work, you are claiming it. You are making it an extension of yourself by wearing it on your person, but making yourself look like a character that is NOT yours to do such without permission from the creator.
