Aww you beat me to the punch regarding those. They were part of Hercules' 12 labors in that he either had to round them up or it was their stables he had to clean out. It has been a while since I read the myth.
I don't see how it's any surprise that horses have killed people, but eating them? That sounds like a horror story. Or, given as how we're on FA, a vore fantasy!
Always been fascinated by the Roman empire/Greeks. I love the stories of the Thessalian horses.

Ya know, I'd never given it THAT much thought, but I was once 'Owned' by a miniature palomino stallion who LOVED eating/swiping our chicken/been taquitos, when we'd make the mistake of leaving 'em unattended while lunching outside as he grazed. Little heathen! (and spicey tater-tots! Gods, he'd crawl through a damn window to get at those things!)
